I had 5 people in my Mustang once, cruising down 294 toward Chicago. Traffic came to a sudden stop except for me. 1000 lbs of people made for some serious brake fade. Scared the crap out of me. I had to steer for the shoulder to avoid hitting the car in front of me. Moral of the story - Your car may be fast getting up to speed, but remember that you might have to stop, too.

jimberg, have you replaced the drumbrakes with disc yet? Brakes are arguably the most important part of a car, and that kind of brake fade with just normal driving (I assume) would convince me to save up for an upgrade!

No, it wasn't normal driving. I was passing someone at like 100. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif Nor is having 5 200+ guys in a car normal.

I will be replacing my brakes with a Baer kit in a year or two.

I was gonna say the same thing. Even with 5 people in the car what is a chevy van doing racing a mustang in any condition? I seen a guy on a bb that had a chevy van that ran low 14's but hes prolly the only one. If I raced a chevy van in my lincoln that would be a race cus I ain't got High Output motor

i raced a dodge dakotaa across and intersection on my norco and WON!!!!!!!!! it was a late 80's dakota witha v6 i imagine....i was like yeah but he had a lot more topend then i did and flew by after.......not bad though for starting in i think it was 7th gear........best was it was my moms bike
