Default battle of the stangs

Which Mustang do you think would win from a second gear roll at 35mph.

Car1: 88 LX 5.0 with 135k on stock motor, dynomax turbo mufflers, gutted cats, underdrive pulleys, 3.73 gears, k&n filter

Car2: 89 GT 5.0 with 92k on Stock Motor, equal length mac headers, 2.5in X pipe, Mac Mufflers, 2.5 mandral tails. 3.55 Gears. BBK cold air intake

Both cars have same size tires

Which one should win
Thanks

I would say car #1

Its lighter, It has better gearing and its speed density and I learned from experience putting 1 5/8 equal length headers on stock heads actually slows you down.

I say car #1 wins by 2-3 cars.

car #1 will walk away easily. Like Dark_5.0 said he has better gearing and is speed density.

Ok
How do you guys all know that your right I own both cars. What makes the Speed density so much better. How much faster is the 88LX. And which one is better to mod with a high lift cam and intake.
thanks

Either way, it's going to be a really close race. It's not like one or the other is going to crush the other.

The LX is a tad lighter, a little better gearing, and is speed density, which seem to run a little harder than mass-air cars (stock to stock).

It's all going to come down to who gets the better launch and then who hits all their gears. It'll be a close one.

Car #2 would be better to mod cause it is mass air. Mass air is alot more mod friendly than speed density. Not to mention car #2 has less miles.

Thats what I thought but I was starting to wonder if I should mod the speed density. Thanks for confirming my idea, I thought Mass air would like mods better then speed density. How does speed density work anyway

With speed density the engine works off of pre set tables for the air to fuel mixture and cannot adapt to mods like heads and cams and add more fuel. Speed density systems have no way of metering incoming air so thy cannot adjust air to fuel ratios like mass air can.
