Talking beat a 93 5spd in my 91 aod

well i was cruizin down a highway around here and gt pulls up beside me but he didnt show a sign of wanting to race. so i follewed him for about to miles then he got over in the left lane. i decide to pull up beside him and mess with him, we were running about 55 and i saw him downshift so i jerked the good ol aod back in 2nd ran it up to 80mph hit 3rd pulled a car lenght and was getting away from him slowly. we stopped and talked afterwards and he had a 93 5spd gt with no mods but k&n. guess thats why i beat him, guess my 3.73's helped a lot

I know i raced a gt vert about an 89-91, it was definately an aod, i had him at higher speeds, but when i slowed to about 70, then take off he would pull on me? plus i heard you aod's are quicker on the highway, but im sure gearing plays a huge role. And my car was stock

You guys just made my day! There is this guy at work that has an 89 and he is always raggin on me because my car is such a pig (AOD) I am going to order the gears this week and hopefully catch him by surprise. IF I be him (IF) I'll let him scratch his head for a week or so then I'll tell him. I have never had it at the track so I have no idea what kind of times I can get.

Enrique get 4:10's! You won't regret it and if you're cowoker has the same mods as you without gears you should easily beat him by 2 cars or more with the 4:10s.

i also have bbk equal lenght headers, off road h-pipe, 12 degree timing, k&n, bosch platinum +4 plugs, and ford motorsports 9mm,but the gears make the biggest difference to me. not to mention the fact my car is ragged out it blows smoke when i get on it hard and i have a cylinder that fouls the plug, but it does ok, im putting in the 347 shortly and plan to go hunt some vettes

Man I would really like those 4.10's but I live in Italy and I will be here for a few more years. Unless I can find a speedo gear that is a bit more accurate than the 23 tooth (which I here is 5-10mph off, correct me if I am wrong please) I can't afford the tickets. I think I have one of the loudest cars here and they just sit around waiting for my a$$. Thanks a million for the advice though.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I get to pay ~$4 a gallon (3.8ltrs) for the lowest octane gas in the free world if I run out of gas rations.

What the big deal with a speedo off 5-10mph anyway... all you do is get a friend to go alongside you and tell you how fast you are going at each speed then remember it. My best friends speedo in his stang doesn't even work, he just drives by the rpm.

Same here with the speedo...I have 3.55s and at 30 on the speedo-I am going 35 on a GPS and at 60 on the speedo-I am going 70 on the GPS. It is very inaccurate, but at least consistent. I did order the 23 tooth gear b/c of the 17" wheels, but did somebody say that it will still be inaccurate?
