Post BEAT AN F-15!!!!!!!!!!

Man I was just cruising around in my step mom's '92 LX Convertible, having a good time listening to some tunes when I pull up to a red light and there's this F-15 eagle with his left turn signal on waiting for a change. So the light turns and I follow him for a bit, being carefull not to drive too close behind him So then we get to another light and I roll my window down, he's got his canopy open. I rev it a bit showing off my 5.0 litre engine and he strokes the throttles on his ride almost deafening me right there. I YELL nice sounding engine whatcha got there? "Dual P&W F100 Turbofans, combined 58,000 pounds of thrust w/ afterburners" I'm like cool i got a 302 N/A bone stock wanna race? He gives me an odd look so I lunge forward a bit and he gets ready to go. Light changes and BOOM instantly I have a 2 car jump on him and he's pulling like crazy though and I see those afterburners come on but then the AOD shifts into 3rd and I gain another 5 car lenghts. After this he flys up and away so I think I won.

Yeah!!!

yeah, im not surprised. those F-15's just don't have any low-end torque. it's all up high in the rev range--they don't develop significant power until about 60,000 rpm. one they spool up though, man, you are toast (literally and figuratively)

The F15 is the king fighter jet when it comes to drag racing. Only two jets can accelerate going straight up the F15 and the F16. Of course Navy jets use a catapult to accelerate off of an aircraft carrier. The rpm's of an f100 jet engine are more like 9,000 not 160,000. The jet fuel starter does turn 165,000 rpms. The f100's power comes from thrust not rpm, a five stage augmentor or (afterburner) does the job well especially with cool fan air coming in from around the core engine.

I got a good laugh out of that. Was he on his way to do some Bombing? Maybe thats why you beat him, he was wieghed down with external fuel tanks and a heavy payload for Bin Laden. (I know the F-15 is not a bomber).

I posted a similar story a long time ago about me racing a UFO. I still think the UFO sprayed the juice.

Those UFOs aren't fair, they hit that darn warp drive button and just "appear" right past the quarter mile marker. Which brings up another thread: "Nitrous\Warp drive cheating?"
My opinion: Run what ya brung...

Also GTO, I think the new F-22 can accelerate straight up also...

Lol, the whole point of my story was to poke fun at all the guys who post unrealistic kills, like Vipers or stock Mclarens

FYI - there is a video out there of a champ car racing an F/A-18, the champ car wins!

The F14 is heavy and doggish when compared next to the F15,sides, the F15 is more proven than the F14 anyway.

The F15, although an air superiority fighter, is equally at home bombing the **** out of stuff. That's due to it's 30,000lb payload capacity. The thing most pilots like about the F15 is when you're on a bombing run and some fast movers pop up, you don't have to just sit there and get pounded. You just drop your external tanks punch the throttle and kick some *** .

I think it's more fair to point out the F15 can actually accelerate through MACH 1 going straight up.

Anyway, so here I was when I spotted this quark on my instraments. It was movin hard core, but as soon as I hit 2nd gear, I just left it. The quarks just don't have any acceleration I guess.

Hey Unit,
You're a bud, but I gotta defend my plane (F-14) against the Air Force...

Quote:

Somewhat correct: The F-14 is heavier, and is a bit behind when considering turn rate\radius when slick (no externals)

Quote:
the F15 is more proven than the F14 anyway.
Incorrect: Both aircraft are extremely capable\reliable machines. The F-14 has been the mainstay fleet defender for nearly 30 years. Other than an issue with the original TF-30 engines on the F-14A, there have been no glaring issues.

Ever heard of the Bombcat?
Bombs were strapped on the Tomcat as early as 1972 to demonstrate its capability. Nearly 15,000lb of payload capacity, and carries Laser Guided bombs when equipped with a LANTIRN pod... several squadrons
have beem operating this aircraft regularly since 1995....

Quote:

True: with no stores...

Things the F-14 has OVER the Eagle:
Greater radar capability
AWG-9 specifics are still classified, but it easily sees over 115 miles...
Greater engagement range (over 100 miles with the Phoenix missle)

and just to let you know, when we played with the Air Force over at Nellis (Red Flag), the Tomcats gave as good as they got against the Eagles in the close-in air combat arena (ACM). Plus they couldn't use their long range Phoenix capability... (We were defending...)

I won't argue that the Eagle is on heck of an aircraft, but don't direspect the cat... she's got some claws...

Great, first flame wars with ricers, then flame wars with Chevy owners, now flame wars over fighter jets?

Anyone wanna defend the P41 Mustang?
