Beat a Z06 Today

Man, I was out today in my Dad's Toyota Avalon. Those things usually arent that fast, but my dad's was a freak from the factory. Toyota accidentally put a 351 Engine in it, and then accidentally put a turbo on running 24# boost. It runs HARD. Anyway, I pull up next to a 98 Z06 and he notices my fast looking Toyota, so he revs at me. Man, by the end of 1st Gear in my Automatic, it was over. I had him by a good 2-3 lengths by 30. We ran up to about 198mph, and I had him by approximately 36 car lengths. I thought those things were faster than that. I mean, Ive raced 9 other Z06's this week, and they are all pretty easy to take. Ive run the Avalon at the track, and it pulled a 9.65 at 149, so its pretty quick. Sometimes Toyota just builds freaks, I guess. If you guys dont believe me, well, whatever, cause my friend can vouch that my Toyota is SICK!!

Man, I had something like that happen to me years ago when I was forced to drive a Metro. My dad gave it to me 'cause I wrecked my other car, some lady hit me. He had dropped in an aluminium block 427, with a roots blower on top. Man, that thing would fly! Anyway, I took it out the day I got it, and just so happened to line up next to a Lamborgini Diablo. Well, I thought about not running him, but then again, how many times do youget to run one of those? So, I throw him a rev, and he does in return. The light goes green and we were off. By the end of second gear, I was way out front, by about 10-15 cars. He pulled over and asked if I wanted to drive his car, and ofcourse I said yes.
Oh wait......no that was a dream I had, nevermind! I lost touch with reality there for a minute!

03-15-2001 02:04 AM

Just be glad you weren't runnin a Cobra. I know they're only rated at about 14 sec in the 1/4 mi, but that's a lie. Really they do it in about 3 secs (give or take). The Cobra would've had ya by 56.345 lengths at 30 mph and would've takin ya up past 234.95643 mph. Hell, I've seen a Cobra with a few simple meaningless bolt ons beat a Top fuel dragster.

StoplightWarrior 03-15-2001 02:20 AM

So youre saying that you realize the idea of a Cobra beating a Top Fuel Dragster is about as stupid as a Solara beating a Cobra???? Good, you finally got it. So you were kidding the whole time about the Toyota thing. That's cool. What kind of car do you really have?

Man, I'll tell you, those Cobra's are the supermen of the auto industry. I'm glad I bought one, now I can run a Top Fuel dragster. Woohoo!
What would I do without an overactive imagination?
Oh, yeah.....a nice start would be to live in the real world, and realize that a Solara has a worse chance than a snowball in hell of beating a Mustang GT or Cobra. For that matter, Pinto's should be on 2MFF's list of fantasy cars he shouldn't race.

Almost 200 mph huh? Well that is quite impressive. Well that car should be worth some money. Sounds like a one of a kind. Probably about 500 horsepower. I mean man you are getting near a McLaren's speed, only about 30 more mph to go. And 36 car lengths, well what is that about 700 feet. Man put some pics of that bad boy on here.

you guys are the 5hit!! But I still have you all beat. I pulled up to a stop light and what pulls up next to me, none other than a f-16 marine fighter jet! Then all the sudden the light turned green and it was on! I had him by 12.761 jet-links when he turned on the afterburners and cut the distance in half. SO i turned on the nitrous and was way ahead again 200mph, 210! he was closing i fast when all the sudden he became airborne! I consider that to be an automatic forfeit and win for me. Man, get a front spoiler on that thing!

Stoplightwarrior - No, what I'm saying is that the 14 sec mustang has a magic quality the make it impervious to being out performed by anything. My post was REAL. I'm sorry I was unaware of the sanctity of the Cobra. If you read my post it was not intended as a "ha ha look what I did", but as a shocker. I don't keep up with the latest specs on the new 14 sec breed of car (not being insulting, just stating my case - it is about a 14sec car). If you read the post I say "I can't explain it" and "I thought they were faster than that". It wasn't until OTHER people READ IT WRONG that it got nasty. Fact is, I beat it, it was on the gas hard, etc. But enough of that cause Kev will send the Storm troopers after me.

PGkelly 03-16-2001 01:18 PM

yeah, i got one of those freak toyota camrys too.....mine is a silver '91 DX w/a sunroof, a 7 spd. tranny from a ferrari F1 racecar, a 54 in. clutch, a roots blown 595 ci qohc (quad over head cam) V10, 90 inch rear tires. oh, yeah and an 800 shot nitrous. to hold that engine, the chassis had to be stretched, and a new front end had to be designed. my most recent race was against an SR-71 blackbird i saw on I-95.....i had to shut it down at Mach 2 because there was traffic up ahead (up ahead meaning we were in VA and there was a stoplight in NJ). i had him by 93.768 car lengths. I also needed new brakes after that. my current 18 piston aircraft brakes had crushed the rotors and turned them into 900 degree dust.

2MFF: If you really did beat the Cobra, then that's cool. If you really are going to be a friendly member of the Mustangworks community, then welcome. It just seemed like you were here only to start flames and so forth. Also, you must admit that you talked some trash about this site and its members. I can understand if you were mad cause no one believed your story. Basically, the way I feel about it is this: Maybe you did beat the Cobra, anything can happen on the street, I know, but there must have been extenuating circumstances because no high 13 sec car will just lose to a low 15 sec one without some sort of thing going wrong. Unfortunately, without some sort of proof of what your Toyota can do, i.e timeslip, video, etc, no one here is just going to believe that. I say, just let it drop, and If youd like to stay around, youre welcome to.

I'm thinking like 3.5 @ 370 mph maybe?

Unit 5302 03-18-2001 01:35 AM

There I was, getting ready for the ultimate 3 way race.

In my corner I had a 386sx 33Mhz, I was running Windows 2k on it. It was a total freak! Most 386's would have collapsed just trying to load the program, but strangely my 160mb hard drive was also a freak! I had Windows 2k, and about 50 other programs on it, just crazy. I'm just pleased that I can download videos with my 2400baud modem faster than they can play!

Anyway, in the another corner it was a brand new AMD Athelon 1.2Ghz box, loaded. DMA/100 hard drive, DSL, Ethernet card, everything. It was pretty bad *** !

The final runner was a brand new 2001 PIV 1.5Ghz Dell box. It had the new 64mb Geforce graphics card, turtle beach santa cruz, DMA/100 hard drive, ethernet card, a T3 connection. Totally tweeked out!

Anyway, our race was to download Red Alert 2 off an internet site, install it, run it, and be the first one to actually have the game start!

Ready... set... GO! We boot up, my 386 being seasoned got the jump right there, I was already dialing up the web when the other two guys were still loading Windows! Ha sucka's! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif

Once they were up all they had to do was double click and they are on the net, good thing my modem is a freak, it connected in like 12sec! I was a little behind at that point http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/mad.gif, but my **** loads so fast, the site was up and I was downloading before the T-3! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif My lead just kept getting bigger and bigger while I was downloading. It was sick, those new boxes are just slow. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/rolleyes.gif

Anyway, I was done downloading like 30 sec faster than the PIV, the AMD box was still going, it was wayyyyyyyyy behind. Loser, doesn't he know his 60k/sec DSL is no match for my freak 2400baud?

Anyway, that's when I noticed, damn, I forgot to hit the "turbo" button and I was actually running in 8Mhz. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif That's why the PIV was running so close, this time when I rebooted I kept my eye's on the turbo and punched it as soon as the O/S loaded! Heh, the PIV was like 1 min behind me at that point.

Once the turbo kicked in and the full 33Mhz came on line, it was all over, cept for a quick scare with my serial mouse, my box was actually running so fast, it shot the mouse right off the port!!! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/redface.gif

Long story shortened, I was up and playing 6 min before the PIV box. Heh, that'll teach those guys to spend all there money on so called "fast" computers!! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

StoplightWarrior 03-19-2001 12:57 AM

zephyr: Trust me, it does. The only times I have had my *** handed to me in the Avalon were by a Solara, but I knew Id lose that one, and by another Avalon, a white one. The guy was real cool. We stopped to talk at the gas station, and he told me that the dumbass's at Toyota had put a 429 Cobra Jet in, and then they rigged up a two stage 300 shot by accident. Other than that, the guy just had an aftermarket shifter for his auto, and I think he said he gutted his cats. But I dont remember. Anyway, I think I may trade my Mustang in this weekend for a Corolla. Im just hoping I get one of the Freak corollas' though, cause the regular ones arent too fast. Later.

With all the genius floating in this thread im surprised that none of you mentioned that if you put in a stereo, preferably 12"'s or bigger, they actually shave off about .5-1.0 sec because of the incredible air movement that increases the psi of the turbo. just make sure you are running an amp that is generated by a runner wheel that touches the ground in the rear. that way you actually increase your output enough that you can shut off the engine and run on electricity only.
