Thumbs up My race vs 1997 GT!

So last night at the street race my friend was there with his 1997 Mustang GT with pulley and gear 3.73 . He asked me to race so I said why not... I jumped in my car and here we are cruising all the way down the street to stage for the race.
We line up...the flager is ready and here we go... he got traction problems and he is fishtailing(sp?) all over the place he almost hit me... I let off the gaz and when I saw he had the control of his car I punched it back... I finished with my front bumper at his rear bumper!

He asked to go again.. "I didnt have any traction, etc..." I didnt have any traction either... back at the end of the street there is two LONG tires marks on the street... not his... but mine... I sware mine were longer then his... hahaha atleast 50 feet!

So we line up again.. with more space between each other. We both had a fairly good launch... he jumped an half car on me on the launch and didnt gain for the rest of the race...at the end my front bumper was at his driver door!

I lost... twice... but its a good lost... Back at the parking lots I was the one getting congratulations!

It was a good night!

Peace!
The race!!! http://quicksir.tracracing.com/Movies/SiRvs1997GT.mpg

Question

Special K, you have limited-slip differential in your civic? How much did it cost? Here's a tip, get a pair of sticky BFG drag radials and put in 1000 psi coil springs in the rear of the car. If that doesn't work, drop in a B18C engine with a T4 turbo so you can beat up all of Cobras in Canada? Good Luck!!!!

hahaha my goal is not to beat every cobra in canada... I only want to run high 14s with simply bolt on, then I will upgrade the suspension and start roadracing!

I already took an advance 3 days driving school. It was a lot of fun ...

And no I dont have an LSD... only the Integra Type R have one... I could swap it in my tranny no problem tho... I just need the $$$

The 1000 psi coil springs should help your civic hook off the line. You know how the rear of the car wants to "sit on it's a$$" when you floor it? Those springs should keep it from leaning down in the back.

Good Luck Special K, but why did you "buy" a civic? My brother bought a Mitsu last year and a almost beat the s@#$ out of him. I agree that there are some "wicked, twisted engine builders" out there that can build 400hp 1.8 liter fours, but let's apply that knowledge to the 5.0 and 4.6 motors.

... yeah only french canadian would buy a civic!

Seriously... I was looking for a brand new car... I was tired of having two car... the Mustang was great but I hate driving a winter beater for 6 month plus it cost a **** load of money for repair (the winter beater)! + + + + + so I sold the stang... and the beater... and I started shoping for a brand new car... with a warraty... and 0 miles on it! because after all... both of my old cars were + 10 years old!!!

On the list:

VW Golf 1.8T: 25900$ CDN
Civic SiR: 22900 CDN
Sentra SE /SS: 23400 CDN

I went with the less expensive of the bunch!! So I have a fairly quick little car... with 4 dics brakes, ABS, power window/lock, power sunrough, power/heated mirror, 2 air bags, A/C, CD Radio, etc... and they only sold silver SiR for ONE year!!!

So im pretty happy with my little car!

Why not buy a used 4x4 and 5.0! Massachusetts snow season lasts for four months out of the year (we're getting less snow every year with all of the Global warming). I have a daily driver 5.0 Bronco 4x4 and I'm building a 351 Mustang GT! Never give up on the red, white and blue Ford vehicles!!!

uh oh..

I hope you were just using the Global Warming thing as a "buzz word"

Global warming?? How do you know it is Global warming? I though mustang drivers didn't buy that load of garbage.

I'll stop now, before I go off...

Red face

we're getting less snow every year????? i don't know what your talking about. here in springfield, MA we had a ton. there were atleast 3 different storms where we had over a foot of snow each storm, and one with 2 feet. not to mention all the little storms we had too. i can remeber putting off the engine swap in my car till april cause of all the snow on the ground!

You guys got dumped on this year, HiFlow! Boston and the surrounding towns spent a ton of money cleaning up. I bought a shovel and didn't have to use it.
