Blown 347 bugs out.
I got a call from a guy who wanted a bigger radiator put in his 1993 Mustang GT. I went over there and did it for him. After I was done he wanted to take me for a ride down a quiet back road. He goes from a slow 1st gear roll and starts going through the gears to about 120 mph. I am sitting in the passenger seat thinking "this is a blown 347?????"
We get back and he was talking about Alternative Auto tuning it and burning a chip, etc.... It is supposed to have 480 RWHP!! Well I offered the same ride in my car. Went from the same 1st gear roll to about 100 mph. He says it feels "pretty quick" So we get back and I offer up a little drag race. We could go out to the freeway and run them where there is no traffic.
He says "uhh...I dunno man, that is a pretty steep ticket, yada yada...." Mind you he just took me for a 120 mph blast down a 2 lane road! I told him i'd even run him off the bottle but he still would not bite.
You guys guessin' what i'm guessin?
I told him that I thought a few things were wrong with his combo. This is a 347 with a Powerdyne making 10 lbs of boost.
He has an unported GT-40 intake, 24 lb injectors, and a stock mass air meter!!! Not to mention that the car was probably tuned VERY conservatively. He had to pay me to replace a stock radiator with a 3 core. No smart shop would tune a car like this anywhere near the ragged edge for a customer that has no idea what they are doing.
I work for his cousin, so I will keep trying to get him to race. If I do of course I will post the results.
