Bought an LS1.......
Finally broke down and bought a car. I have been looking fro about a year and ran across one that i like. Its a 99 black Z28 with factory crome rims. Auto, 2.73's. So far i love it...haven't had an auto in forever though. I love drag racing it, and it has been to the track about 5 times already and i have only had it about 3 weeks. Check out the sig for the times. Those times were on the blad stock RSA's.
So far at the track i have only lost once to a black 6 spd LS1. i lost by a car and a half. i have some pretty impressive kills though so far: 01 GT with NOVI 1000, exhaust, gears, DR's...he ran a 14.2 @ 106 93 Supra with 17 psi of boost...he ran a 14.2 @ 105 89 Trans AM with the 3.8 Turbo...he ran a 13.59 to my 13.51..good run A couple of 5.0's too.... Don't worry i still have love for the 5.0s. i just love that the first mod i needed for the car was a helmet because it runs mid 13's stock! Let me know what you gusy think...

NOOO! Say it isn't so, EZ.. Just kidding! Enjoy the car man. I like any of the American performance cars so you can't go wrong imho. I just feel especially comfy in the cabin of a Ford though.

The guy you beat with the 01 gt with a s/c and drag radials must not know where the gas pedal is. Same thing with the supra.

You should've bought a 4.6 mod motor Cobra. Did you get caught up in the LS1 hype? Did you "want" the automatic transmission? Sorry, I'm just "F" ing with you. GM always builds a "great car", then they end up killing it off soon after. Good luck with the LS1.

Yea the LS1 is great with the auto. Very consistent and powerful. i ran a 13.64 @ 103 last night in not the best weather conditions. i looked hard for a DOHC Cobra, but could not find one that was priced well. This LS1 was a great deal, and so it came down to price in the end. Plus i wanted an auto b/c i drag race so much. I did get beat by a '01 Ram Air who had a cat back, lid, free mods. I lost by .0089!!!!!! i actually ran a better time than him, be just had a little more mph that pulled me. He ran a 13.76 @ 104 to my 13.74 @ 103.54 Anyways. I weighed that LS1 last night and it came in at 3420 with alittle less than a 1/4 tank.

I would like to race one of those 3.8 t/a's
Yea, an auto with 273's 34??lbs that runs 13.4's on street tires is a great buy, oh well enjoy it. my friend has an a4 formula that ran 12.7 with a 2.0 60' cuttouts lid, and gutted cats, now it's getting a new motor because of burnt rings and bent valves, but he ran the crap outt it. he is getting an ls6 motor put in it now.

EZRIDN : Congrats on the purchase! I seriously almost bought an auto SS when I was shopping around for my new car. It was a white one, hardtop, real nice. Too bad the salesman was a complete cock. Oh well, I think it turned out for the best. Gotta love the easy power the LS1's make though! Get a lid, some headers and a cam, you could be in the VERY low 12's easy. Best of luck to you.
