Well, it's going to cost $2000+ for a new Tremec TKO, and property taxes are coming due http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/frown.gif. So it's going to take me more time to get the funds to make the lx run. I know I sound whiny and sad about this, but it is bumming me out. Anyone want to lend me the cash?

I think the 5lug spacing we have is the same. The rims the tires are on now have horrible back spacing. They stick out like crazy. Thats ok though, cuz it pretty much means they are guaranteed to fit, cuz they stick out instead of in. If your only lowered .25" thats nothing..

I don't care what club we get out there, just as long as the ratio of Mustangs to anything goes up!
We had a Cruise and drag event last month...went real well, met up in O'side and cruised down the PCH to Carlsbad. It was pretty damn cool, I expect the next one to be bigger. You all are invited to join us earlier for the cruise before the racing starts-don't worry, though, we'll play nice until we get to the track!!!!

Hey sky or anyone else knowlegable. I have never ran on slicks before and Im realy not sure how the burnout thing goes. Should I start out in second since Im a rookie and feather the gas untill she starts to leave the water and my rpms go down? Or should I start out in 3rd and drop the clutch at the redline so they spin faster in the end? Someone actualy told me to start out in first/use the brakes to stop me from leaving the water and to shift through the gears. That just sounds a little tough.

Super9089 02-26-2001 08:37 PM

I'm jealous of all you left coasters getting together.

Faststang, the way I do it back east is roll it thru the water, light spin in first just to coat the tires, roll it out to dry ground, stop ,slip it in second & burn em at about 3500-4000 rpm till it starts to pull down. big burnouts in the box can throw water around the rear wheel wells that could come back to haunt you at the line.

Have fun.

Hey Sky and Fastang, I wouldn't worry. I've been there a several times and you'll get 5-6 passes in easy. You can do even more if you don't let the engine cool between runs (which I don't recommend).

If you don't want me to invite a lot of people, then I won't.

fastang 03-02-2001 07:56 PM

Im not sweating it at all. I will be happy if I get two in and satisfied with one. The last time I went to Pomona I only got one run in the whole damn day. There must have been a thousand 15 second ricers there. On the other hand I got 12 passes in once at pomona when my car was stock. Everyone left for some reason and I was able to stage, run, stage, run, and so forth. My car was quite consistant though.

SKYMAN - Just call them up. That 6 month backlog was earlier in the year, they're OK now. I could have gone last week, but I wasn't ready yet. He's going to hook up a wideband O2 sensor, fuel pressure monitor, then run it, tweak it and run it some more. They can burn chips for you, but that gets expensive. It's $100 an hour for dyno time.

ed1371 03-09-2001 12:59 PM

I am bringing a couple from here and maybe one more from san diego. I really hope the third person goes...his stang is set up for autocross and it is absolutly BAD! He has over 5K just in the suspention alone! He is also one hell of a driver. Dammit pete, if you are reading this you better be there!

fastang 03-09-2001 03:39 PM

Droppin the A/C huh Sky, What do you have to do about the belts?

withamc 03-09-2001 10:23 PM

Better than I thought it would be! 277 RWHP @ 5000 RPM, 313 ft/lbs torque @ 3500 RPM. It started out at 242 HP, dropped the fuel pressure to 35 PSI, advanced the timing to 16, 34 more HP.
If I figure my 86 convertible with 200 lb me in it weighs 3600 lbs, that should put me at a 13.7 at 99 MPH. (assuming I know how to drive). Think they'll kick me off the track?
I'm putting the LCA's in this weekend, if I have time I'll rebuild the Trac-Lock and lose the sway bar before we go.

[This message has been edited by withamc (edited 03-09-2001).]

ed1371 03-10-2001 03:43 AM

withamc: they will let you make a couple runs before telling you to pit it...
(one for the warning, 1 more to get put in the bleachers)

Skyman 03-10-2001 05:57 AM

Wow thats good Withamc. How much did it cost you for that tune? $100 or more?
Also I say you trap 103! just hunch, but we'll see. Does the car feel stronger after the tune? And could you get me the # for germanson I'm gonna get in there!!

As for gettin kicked off at POMONA you need a helmet for 13.99. I got 4 runs in before they sent me back for not having one. Is carlsbad the same? if so I need one to borrow!!

As for the A/C it was hot today and I decieded I think I'm going to keep it. Another 40lbs of my front end is just going to make it ride even higher than before...

I think Im gonna ice down my car at the track though and pull the accessory belt completely for 1 run. I heard that gives you 2mph!
