Big $$$$$ Race. Me vs. Tubbed 68 Camaro
If you remember a while back I posted a thread about me racing a tubbed 68 Camaro. Well today while i was at work, he came by and said he had been hearing alot of stuff about my car and wanted to come by and look at it. Well he started looking at it, inside and out. Stupid me had the hood off it, so now he knows what i'm running. but anyway, he said he heard my car ran some 4.70's at the track a couple weeks ago and I said yeah. He said his ran 5.90 1/8th last weekend. He wanted to know if I still wanted to race and I said sure I'll race you for money. He said ok, how about tomorrow night at test n tune night at the track. I said sure, i'll be there. $1,000 is what he said he'd put up. I'm gonna up the jets a little more and rock his world. hehe. So what do you guys think?? I just hope my car doesn't break on the line or somethin. I'm gonna install a looser converter tomorrow morning and do some more tuning. I'll post results soon.
Eric

This girl raced her dad at the track for $1000.00. They had a chevy vs. Ford thing goin on. The girl drove an LS1 with 150 shot and bolt ons and she beat her dad who drove an old 60 something mustang by a mile.

It looks like your car is almost a second faster in the 1/8th alone on motor. Your going to destroy him, I wonder what hes thinkin.

I'm glad theres not much 1/8 mile racing down here, I'd be toast. How do handle the betting? Do you have a 3rd party witness hold the money or something? Is the win based on 1st accross the line or best ET?

ok well the race is set. WE do have a third person holding the money while we race. Whoever crosses the finish line first, gets the money. I'll be sure and post results late, late tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.

i'd be a bit suspicious of someone that said he runs a second slower than you and has seen what you have and still wants to run you.

I agree with lx mike. If he knows you run faster than his supposed ET, and he still wants to race and bet 1000. Either he's just feeling like giving his money away, he's lying about his times, or he just installed something that should make him faster than you. Let us know how it turns out. I hope you smoke him like a Cuban cigar!!

Well here's the verdict. When we got there, i watched a couple cars run to see how the track was running. It looked like some of the pro cars were hooking fairly well so I decided to leave the air pressure like it was. I unloaded the car off the trailer, checked the plugs, adjusted the timing, jetted up the nitrous to a 200 first stage, then 175 second stage. I talked to the camaro guy, my buddy held our money and we got into the staging lanes together. We both did our burnouts. I did a little longer burnout than usual to try and get some good heat in the slicks. I brought it out of the burnout box. brought the revs up and gave him a couple good stout revs to show him what's up. He does the same. So I purge the nitrous twice. Stage and wait....and wait....and wait....this guy took forever to stage. When he finally lit the first bulb, we had a little staging game. I was trying to psyche him out. I rev'd, he rev'd, finally he lit the stage bulb, then i eased in easy, held the transbrake, brought the rpm up to 5500, light came down, car hooked like a ROCKET!!! It just shot out like a cannon. I feel the first stage come in, then the second. I look over and don't see him ANYWHERE. I look back and he's probably about 7 or 8 cars back. Maybe more. I pull the chute, hit the return road, get my timeslip, and got my best e.t. so far.....4.64 169mph!!! I waited for him, to come back down, and he said his car had a fouled plug. I said well should have checked everything before hand. Anyway, he was cool about it, gave me props about my car, and i gave him some about his. Oh well, $1,000 for me!!! That's gonna go into my savings account.lol Just thought i'd let everyone know the results!!!
Eric

Red514LX, yes I have thought about going into Pro 5.0! Although, I must have my chassis upgraded to 25.1C and have it certified. But thanks guys for your replies!!!
