Did you get new wheels Ed? 275's are pretty wide. Im running 225 Nitto DR's and couldnt hook up at all at carlsbad. I kept hitting 2.2's. From what I've seen you pretty much HAVE to run slicks there.

Yeah, I was going to pick up a set of welds but it fell through...got me a set of stock 15's I got the BF Goodrich Drag radial and it has 10" of tread http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

I am putting it on a 7" rim. The Manufacturer reccomends 7"-11" for the rims so I am in the clear from what they say.
I am only going to be using them when I drag BTW. I cant believe they told you that you shouldn't put 245's on 8" rims! Just about every stang I look at with 7 1/2" - 8" rims has 245's. I kick myself all the time for getting 225's last time I bought rears. Hope you all can make it out... -ed |
I am on 275/40/17's and I can get any traction at carlsbad, I spin a good way through 2nd gear my 60foot times are usually 2.1 best of 13.6 @ 105 on the motor

well, my best on street tires is a whopping 2.3 so I will be happy to pull 2.0-2.1 if I can. I am going to be pulling the front sway bar too...I want low 13's bad!

I hope they hook. I have yet to see anyone hook well yet with drag radials at any track though.
My slicks wont break loose there though, so I have no problems. It will all be working. Well, I went back and forth about it. The only reason I decided to go with drag radials is the stress on the driveline slicks would put on it. I am already stressing it hard with N2O and a heavy car.
I am going with the widest tire possible with the turbines and have heard lots o people saying they cut really good 60'times with em...If it doesn't work out well, I guess I will go buy a spare tranny and get slicks -ed |
one thing I haven't done is get the drag radials hot because of a weak clutch, do you guys reccoemnd doing a big burnout with them?

Ed, I think a good set of E.T. streets will work damn close to as well as a slick. You can drive em to the track too if your lazy or dont want to get your interior all dirty hauling em up there.
I hope to have everything done and go to Fontana on the 8th. Im still not positive that I will have it ready by then but its lookin good. Are you going on the 8th too? If you and Sky are going to go on the 15th Im in. Lets meet up somewhere and get lunch before or just drive through somewhere and eat while waiting for them to let us in the gates. I would go back after I get my dyno tune but whatever. Im in. |

Hey, I am still up for going next weekend but I wont be able to access the forums here until next the 14th cause I am going to Camp Pendleton for the week and leaving tommorrow morning. Sorry guys I cant make it to Fontana on the 8th. But I will be at Carlsbad on the 15th! My car isnt done yet. I got the heads on, the headers bolted up and the rockers adjusted. But I still have to slap the intake and valve covers on and replace a leaky radiatior. Should finish it all on Sunday and be at the track with you guys on the 15th. Sky, You've got my cell #. I am going to try to make it out this weekend, I went last saturday but I blew my clutch on the first run, it broke about half way through 3rd gear, I still managed to coast through at a 13.0 at 80 somethin MPH first time on the squeeze, clutch couldn't handle it, I was fairly happy with the 60ft time too it was a 2.0 with a 8.1 1/8 so hopefull I can run a mid 12 with a stout clutch, will be installing tomorrow, so I hope to see you guys there.

This is GREAT! I had planned on going yesterday and meeting you guys down there but MY SHITS NOT FITTING! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif My upper intake is hitting my valve covers!! Even with a 3/8 inch spacer it hits. I ordered a 1 inch spacer on wednesday but they have to pony express the damn thing here from Ohio because all the planes were down from the national disaster on Tues. It should be here by this Wednesday and I hope to have it all ready and meet you guys next Saturday.

Leon- Thanks, I am trying to get it fixed tomrrow if I can. I have no way to get it there really though.
Jesse- They are 5 lug. They should be fine. I ran tires that stuck out farther than the wheel well and they hit before. No big deal except for some burning rubber on the fender. I saw a guy in a 98 camaro runnning 28" et street thats were sticking out and rubbing. MAN did they smoke on the lanch as they grinded into his fenders. Ive never had any problems. If we try em we can see if they are gonna work anyways. I will know tomrrow afternoon if I am gonna be able to make it or not.
