Post Carlsbad results....

Well I got there really late, and got in 6 runs in 2 hours. There was hardly anyone there it was great.

The car ran 12.5's all day with the roll cage, so any extra weight I guess was off set by losing the sound deadening etc.

The 60's were in the low 1.7's with a 1.69 best for the day.

Mph was all in the 107's. I tried the nitrous and something screwed up. I dont know what happend, it almost died at half track and I didnt feel any boost at all.

So I didn't try it anymore.

After leaving I noticed I had NO OIL PRESSURE! SO I pulled it over there, and had to spend the night in carlsbad.

Anyways, I found I have a broken oil pump driveshaft. So that has to be fixed now, and I gotta find whats wrong with my Nitrous.

Also ran my cousins 68 coupe. Which has a 315hp Crate motor with a T5Z tranny and 3.08's which ran a best of 14.6@94mph. Which is really screwed up.

I made a post on it in Windsor power.

Dude that sucks. When I pulled apart my old stang's 302, the oil pump shaft looked like a twizzler. Fortunately, it didn't break. After that, I installed a heavy duty shaft and an autometer oil pressure warning light.

Damn, sorry to hear that Sky, I was looking to see your 11 sec times with the juice...make sure you get all the metal out of the motor from that broken shaft, double check the pump, you may just want to swap it since it is so cheap, get a ARP chrome-moly shaft and give it hell!

damn that sux sky! Do you know what caused the shaft to break? If your oil pump siezed then somethin (like a lifter retainer ring) may have jammed her up. Friend of mine said to check your distributer too, says that if the gear/s are torn up, the you may have wiped out your cam too. (happened to him)

Did you install the N2O system yourself? I think you mentioned that you did...at least you will know your way around it to troubleshoot it!

Damn dude, sorry to hear that you had to stay down there. How did you get home? Did you fix the car down there? You probably had to.

Get your nitrous fixed and I'll join you next time hopefully with a new motor that can keep up with your *** . Good luck fixing your car.

BTW, Are you coming down to dyno your car with us on Saturday? You mentioned it before.

I'll bring it down to dyno it if I can get it all fixed by then, but chances are it wont get fixed that fast, as I will need a whole day free to get into it.

I pulled the distributor and the gears on it are all fine. I'll just throw in a high volume oil pump with hardened shaft. Im pretty sure thats what blew it up.

I think I may have had an empty n20 bottle. I had forgotten it turned on all day and night the day before, and maybe it seeped out? So I was thinking that I just got fuel and it went rich on me?

It's the CURSE!!! /me hopes you dont have the same hex I seem to have put on me! Have you weighed the bottle? An empty bottle is an unhappy one. I dunno about brand new solinoids seeping on you like that...maybe you have a leak in the line somewhere. Did you use teflon paste everywhere you are supposed to?

Also, your oil pump got shot but how? shafts break because of siezed pumps...usually caused by foriegn objects I believe. I'm not trying to sound like a doomsayer...just dont want you to throw a new pump on and wind up hurting the engine to the point where it gets really expensive

It probably had 150k miles on it... but I don't know what caused it. What should I check for?

I didnt use any teflon tape, I didnt know I was supposed to.

you are supposed to use teflon paste (not tape, it can ruin your solinoids, and clog your lines) you use it on ALL the pipe fittings, not the AN fittings. I am damn sure that you leaked out your nitrous because of it.

As far as your engine is concerned, get it flushed professionally flushed. I have never done that sort of thing before but i think they hook it up to a pump and just let oil get ran through it without the engine running (Dont quote me though, I may be wrong) when you pull your old pump, look to see if it got siezed by metal or something. I would call a mechanic though and see what they say. There is a chance that the motor might have to be taken out to make sure something more serious hasn't happened.

I know this is all bad news but I may be wrong on the whole deal and maybe the pumps seals went bad and thats what caused it (hopefully) to fail.

Yo Sky, stick with a standard oil pump. High volumes do not fair well in small Ford's. Causes extreme windage and pops the oil gallery plugs out. Belive me, it happened to me before. A standard oil pump will do just fine, unless it's an all out race motor.

If the pump had 150K miles on it, that is probably why it died! It's a miracle it lasted that long! I would probably stick with a stock one as well. jmo. I'm sure you can just replace the pump and shaft! when you pull the oil pan just check for contaminates laying on the bottom of the pan! good luck sky!
