Chevelle SS owns me.

I haven't had my doors blown off this bad in a long time!

Pulled up next to a beautiful black Chevelle SS last night after leaving the car show. It had 396 badges on the side and sat just right. This was one of the nicest looking Chevelles I've seen in a while.

As I pulled up next to him, I was thinking I'd give the old 396 a hand-ful. I noticed his 6-7 year old daughter was sitting shooter. Game off. Until he downshifted into first at 25 mph and absolutely lit up the tires! This thing was mean. We started talking a little and threw some compliments around. Then he procedes to tell me he runs 11.7s and has a 478 big block under the hood. A 478 big block. WTF!

We went from a roll and it wasn't even fair. Very cool car.

It sounds like an incredibly beautiful car. Atleast the guy was cool about it. Nice run man

Im sorry to be the bad guy, but I don't really think he was teaching his daughter a very good lesson by street racing with her in the car. Don't get me wrong, I love to eat lots of rice and stuff, but if I do it, I am by myself.

I agree. I don't have kids, but when I do I won't be racing with them in the car.

His daughter didn't seem to mind though.;)

Hook up a nitrous oxide kit, bolt on some slicks and run this Chevelle heads up.

there's a guy with a sweet black 70 chevelle around here too... looks like a typical nice restored SS 454... but he has a paxton on it too...hate to buy tires for it.. haha :D

In defense of the old man........

My old man had a '65 Mustang. It was far from stock, and he would run the car hard with me in it as a small child.

That Chevelle is certainly not his everyday car, and my guess is that his daily driver is far from a stock Chevelle. If you race a daily driver that's a different story.

I'm sure I'll catch heat for saying that, but whne you race an original muscle car, it doesn't have the same effect. It's like a gun, my father had a lot of them, and would take me shooting. I didn't grow up thinking I could grab one and go shoot people. He handled the '65 the same way. I respect them both, and don't think it's ok to mess around with either.

Sounds like a killer chevelle. My dad has a 67 SS that he races/shows. It has a 468 in it..13:1 motor, 1050 dominator, Brodix heads, etc, etc. It runs 5.90-6.00 flat in the 1/8th. Pretty consistent car. It's a BLAST to drive on the street. He's burned several stangs, and mopars, and some camaro's in it. Car gets alot of respect. For a 3450lb car it hauls the mail. throw some juice to yours, and some good tires and go at it again. :)

If I had a choice of which GM I'd rather get beat by....a sweet Chevelle SS would win hands down. 478??????????

He might've said 468 like Eric's old man has. I had never heard of whatever size he said it was.... all I remember is that is was a little bigger than a 454.
