Consistent for a stick!

Okay, keep in mind that my 13.6 was with 3.73s, slicks, 35 degree weather and 800 less feet of elevation. These are why the times are slower!

Any way this weekend i ran in a heads up Mustang class, and these were my times!

1st run
1.018 (pro tree, and fell asleep)
1.892
5.605
8.766
78.27
11.503
13.830
96.86

2nd run
.897 (I'm starting to get the hang of it)
1.888
5.654
8.806
78.46
11.531
13.846
97.47

3rd run
.736 (slowely improving)
1.903
5.649
8.800
78.40
11.527
13.837
97.64

4th run
.653 (I'm still getting better)
1.916
5.624
8.786
78.29
11.507
13.827
97.07

I have been told by a few people to take up bracket racing! On a full tree I am usually in the .5xx range, but the pro tree is so much fun! What do you guys think? It's 2 months till the next heads up event, should I try my hand at bracket racing?

red82gt 05-30-2002 05:16 PM

Around here there's a class called super shifters fot M/T cars only with no electronics allowed (delay boxes, etc.). It is a bracket style so it would be perfect for your driving. I would imagine that there's something similar in your area.

MattwantsSpeed 05-30-2002 08:23 PM

Where did you run? Lebanon? What exactly is the elevation there? My buddy has VERY simliar mods to his 92LX as yours and could only pull off a best of 14.7 (shitty driver mod, I think)

ThreePonyStable 05-30-2002 09:08 PM

I run at Lebanon and it's about 800 feet I believe. That day it was about 75 degrees and traction was good. I'm not sure about events near me, they do have a bracket series, but the cars that run in it are 18 second Intrepids and pickups, so it is no fun. Oh well, I may just help my son until the MHRA events, and maybe do a bracket race!

EZRIDN 05-30-2002 09:11 PM

Very consistent times. Good Job.

Do you have the stock axles, tranny, etc in it?

How did you launch and shift.

mysweetlx 05-31-2002 01:30 PM

3ponystable, nice times, very consistent! I'm about 1 1/2 hrs from Lebanon Valley......we should meet up one day. Sounds like you'd do well bracket racing......personally I like heads-up much better.

ThreePonyStable 05-31-2002 01:56 PM

No axles, tranny, clutch, etc, if it isn't lisyed in the sig, it's all stock from 1991! I usually launch around 3500 to 4000, but on the last run i tried 5000, but I'm going to need some more power before I see an improvement!

mysweetlx, I would love to go up, I live about 2 hours away from LVD. I will run at every MHRA (look in schedule for Mustang), and the next one is July 20! The heads up is so much fun, and the pro tree is much better than a full tree! Right now I may be looking into some GT-40P heads, a set of P headers, and an H-pipe, and see if I can go 12s! Then I will add intake and a few more little things, and hopefully get into the low 12s and stay Factory Stock legal!

mysweetlx 05-31-2002 04:19 PM

3PS....you'll hit 12's w/ those mods. You're running some really nice times w/ the near stock set up. I'm still waiting for my tranny/clutch to die......but it won't! :D

ThreePonyStable 05-31-2002 09:07 PM

Thanks, I hope none of my parts die! Although I am debating powershifting the car, but all the stories from friends of rebuilds and broken parts is kind of intimmidating!

MattwantsSpeed 05-31-2002 09:36 PM

Wow, you guys travel quite way to Lebanon.....I thought my hour and a couple minute drive from near Spfld, Ma was kinda far to see some racing, guess not. I have like 3 buddies going up there next Wednesday with their Fox Bodies.........1 hoping for high 14's, one hoping for low-mid 14's and another hoping for mid-13's....should be fun......

EZRIDN 06-01-2002 08:36 AM

Very nice. Good to see the stock stuff holding up.

Do you have a line lock?

ThreePonyStable 06-01-2002 01:03 PM

EZRIDN, I just got the line loc done, and the last time out was the first time using it! It was a pain to put in, but it is well worth it!

MattwantsSpeed, It's about 2 hours to Lebanon for me and it's about 2 1/2 to Epping in New Hampshire. Then there is Englishtown which is well over 3, but LVD is definately the closest and easiest drive! Sounds like your friends will have fun, but Wednesday's are packed now so unless they are running in the Street series (which I advise) they may not get alot of runs. It's still good to see te Mustangs up there instead of rice!

Skyman 06-02-2002 01:19 PM

Nice runs and good driving. Nice to see a close to stock stang in the 13's.

I bet with a higher launch and hook u should be able to hit low 1.8x's to high 1.7x's and get another tenth or so.

SKyler

ThreePonyStable 06-02-2002 07:16 PM

I don't know if a higher launch will work, but better conditions will definately work.
