Driving tips..Camaro has to die!!!
Some of you have probably read my post about my 15.4 second runs last Friday. This Friday it should be hot outside and the track should be sticky. I am blaming my dismal and embarrassing 15.4 second runs on lack of traction and poor weather for racing. Last weekend it was very cloudy and humid and the track was a little wet. I was spinning the whole way through first and half of second. I dont no anything except my quarter mile ET's cause lightning through out all of the sensors except for the ones at the end of the quarter mile. What psi should I run my nitto's at and what rpm should I launch at. Man I need to pull a 14.6 or 14.7 to be competitive. Is it possible. BTW my nitto drag radials are 245/50/16's. How much does removing the front sway bar help. My brother will be running his 81 camaro this friday as well I hope I can pull a good light and smoke him at least once he runs 14.30's all day he would sh!t being beat by the 5.slow as he calls it. ......Im not too depressed about last friday cause everyone was running slower than usual.

I heard the sway bar helps lots. Usually 1 tenth off or so. I hope it was just a bad day for you because you'll need lots to make up a full second.
14.30's is pretty good for an 81, he must have a few mods on it. With all your mods, I take is was a bad day for you and you should run lots faster than that. Good luck! |

Yea pull the sway, i have said this a million times, i had to pull mine cuz i busted a link up when i bottomed out, but now i wish i did this a lonnnngg time ago, my traction improved, verts might need this for safe daily driving, but i know my car handles fine without it, and if you do it, try to get someone to help you, it will go smoother.
Also reset timing to 12-14 whatever works best, and my tires run best with 20-25 psi, you have to find the magic rpm for a launch, i just give it a little rev about 2k, then ride the clutch out, and feel for a little bogg, then i floor it, and be ready to grab 2nd, but dont powershift 2nd with street tires, just be aggressive, i prefer to drive (around) the water, and just spin the wheels a bit to get the feel of the track. I had to practice many many times to get a 13.9 and 1.9.... so oddesa has a track huh? good luck. oops just realized you have nittos, well still find the best rpm to leave, but with stock gears its hard if they are stock, but pull the sway, and feel that front end feel like its coming nearly off the ground ------------------ 90 lx coupe: Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil,ADS chip (not yet track tested),3-core radiatr, FMS alum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs, 3chbr flows. I would bet that you slowness last time was all do to spinning, so this time, launch a little softer, but most importantly: if you feel sping LET OFF IMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just pull back a little bit till they catch, and then SLOWLY apply th throttle again, not hard.

I have just returned from the track and my brother did not take his car they are preping it for the new heads its a good thing that he did not go though cause now it is clear that my car is a 15 sec car so it must have been a 16 sec car when I bought it

You might be able to break 14's. We have similar mods,(My cam's probably only good for a tenth or two if that) and I went 14.7 on street tires, and it bogged a little.
With D/R's you should be able to get a better launch and break 14's if weather permits. ------------------ 90LX Ragtop. 14.7@95.3 Strut tower brace, K&N, 2.25'' Flowmasters, Hollow cats, Crank pulley, Crane 2031, Crane rockers, Holley FPR, 155lph, Heavy duty clutch, and alum quadrant.
