Post looking to buy (gulp)....Chevy truck

Well, I am ready to start the summer project, but it doesn't involve the Mustang . I want to start a build up project on a late 60's early 70's Chevy pick-up with my step dad. We are having a rough time finding one with a good body on it. Any ideas on where to buy from or where to look? We know we may have to travel out of the area to find one. The engine really doesn't matter as we will be doing a total rebuild anyway, but we would like to find one with a body in nice shape.

You either love it or hate it, but Ebay sometimes has some good deals. Just be careful.

I realize this would be way out of your way, but there is a small dealer on Auburn Blvd. in the Sacramento/Citrus Heights area of CA that usually has several really nice examples of these trucks. Also I've seen them in the paper out here for $2000-$4000, really nice bodies and strong runners. If a rust-free body is what you're looking for, you can't beat the southwest.

If you want, I can get more information about this dealer for you...

Well, Chevy trucks have a great reputation! My dad and I got a 73' Silverado Cheyenne, it is fully restored cept' we put a black flat bed on the back, it is yellow with white cab and white side stripe. Great truck! Good luck!

Chevy stuff before the 1980s wasn't nearly as bad as it is these days. Checkout http://www.cars.com and http://www.autotrader.com

I've always kinda wanted a 1971 or 1972 chevy truck with the stock orange and white paint job, tourqe trush II's, a 454, and lowered a little(like a 3",4" drop)

Dinomite---About your comment on all the trucks before the 80's were ok..The only thing about those pre-80's truck is that they have a great tendency to rust to pieces..I have saw this first hand..but I do like the boxy look like they have..
