Default Every dog has his day

I'm a new member here and have read some of the posts by other members and have found most of them to be either informative or otherwise amusing. I hope this qualifies (true story)
I've owned my 93 coupe for years before slowly beginning to modify. I moved to a city were there was finally a local track close were I could go and enjoy watching all makes and models strut their stuff. One Friday night I went there to see what it could do in the 1/4. While I was in the waiting lane I had noticed this guy with his girl waiting outside the lane. He noticed me waiting and muscled his way into the line next to me. The car was an older 90s Camaro wearing slicks and some modifications. I was on street tires with only exhaust work and gears. We lined up and he immediatly jumped ahead 3 car lengths and pretty much maintained it to the finish. He ran 13.5s and I ran 14.0s. After the race I seen them in the pit and tried engaging him in a friendly conversation but he basically shunned me.(must of been that Camaro/ Mustang thing) The same guy did the same thing again that night and the following week. Enough was enough, this is what originally fueled me to further modify! Over a period of two weeks I had ordered and installed TFS heads (ported), Cobra intake (ported) and 24lb squirters and all the follow up mods. Off to the track I went. I waited that Friday night hoping that this guy would show. My prayers were answered; he and his lady friend did the usual and waited for me. This time I did not start my car fearing he would notice the lumpy new cam, and instead pushed my car as far up the line I could and waited until his windows were up before starting the car. He pulled me one car length (his slicks to my DR's)off the line, then the drag radials bit and it was over by second gear. I put at least 10 or more lengths on him before the finish line. Shortly after the race he and his lady friend left the track. Since then I've only seen this fellow once at the track. He didn't cut in line again. Every dog (horse) has his day!

Default Congrats

Congratulations on the victory. That's the kind of story I like to hear. I've been in the same type situation. I bought my 83 GT when I was 15, and ran the stock motor, while I was in the process of building my own, until right before I turned 20. I don't come from a rich family, so it took me that long to save up the money to finally get the motor and all the mods to build the 500 horse engine I'm running today. So keep up the good work!

Thanks for the encouraging words Mustang pony 83, and I definitely will continue modifications. I still have a ways to go to achieve 500hp but hopefully will get there soon. Maybe this guy has modified some more and is on the prowl for me again? We can't have that! LOL

Hahaha! Cool story! I had a mustang guy insult me when I had the Z28. I called him smack boy since then but I haven't seen him since I had the Monster Notch. My hour will come and he will eat a facefull of smack talk when I am done with this prick.

I've never agreed with people who smack talk other peoples cars. However there's nothing wrong with a bit of friendly competition, after all its just for fun. Those who do this will eventually have to eat some humble pie and it's a good feeling when your serving it! LT1 you should be serving this guy up some. Good Luck! (keep us posted if you ever find him)

I haven't seen him at the track for a couple of years but don't you worry, I'll post all the juicy details when I get him.

He was so arrogant, he beat me by 3 cars then because he had slicks and when we raced from a roll we were exactly side by side and after the race he was asking me if I had a V6.... That's after I told him "good race"... go figure...

Man, Merc. Maybe we oughta pick a fight with Vietnam again or something and send you over. Then again, we mayn't have to wait too many years for China to start something (God forbid)....

Good story, coupe. Always fun to put trash talkers in their place.

Silver Pilate.

Lets just say if I was over there, I wouldnt be fighting probably I know some asain countries dont take to the white man to well, but I am told by many realiable and knowledged sources that Tawain Loves them.

Here I come Tawain. I'm going to have to get an LS-1 Powered School bus to haul around all the Beauties that will be wanting me. AND NO THEY WONT BE THE KIND YOU PAY FOR, OR HAVE TO GIVE CERTIAN CARDS TO.

Watch out Tawain, Merc's saving the money for a plane ticket.

COUPE 93.

Have you thought about going with a set of GT-40 heads? There going for a pretty good price in the Ford Motor Sports catalog, and should flow substantionally better than the 65 heads. You'll lose some compression but the flow will more than make up for it.

LMAO!!

Yeah, I'd be there beside you in the fighting, bro.

I tell you what. We'll all take a collection and send you over to Taiwan. However, after you get your LS1 powered school bus up and running, you have to let me take care of your coupes and your GT. And you have to let us crash at your place when we fly over to visit. I wonder how many fast bicycles are over in Taiwan....hmm...bet I could take 'em.
