Default 88 5.o lx conv running questions

Hey Guys.... I have a dilemma.... I have an 88 5.0 auto.... it runs ok but it seems like it cant get out of its own way.....

timing at 10 degree btdc
all is stock but when I advance it past the 10 it pings like crazy at higher R's...... but low end improves as i raise it up////

it is still speed density , will higher fuel pressure help the higher end ping....
Where do you guys find the timing on pretty stock mustangs to be where they run well....

I want more power but I want driveability to be good....

thanks

my email is racerx0071@yahoo.com

thanks

ray

you didnt mention whether you are runnin higher octane fuel or not, cause when you increase the timing, you should also increase fuel octane.

on my 87 its set at 10 and it runs fine, im gonna bump it up, but havent yet. my dads is set at 14 and it runs fine there.

On my 88GT my timing is set at 18 degrees. With a speed density car a fuel pressure regulater should be you 1st purchase.

I reccomend the aeromotive one.

Make sure you dont have a chip installed in your car if you bought it used.

Later,
