Hmmm with all these 12 second cars at 105, I'm really beginning to believe that my timeslips were wrong all night that night. Thanks for raining on my parade. Do the computers ever lie???

What was your 60' Joe and I can tell you.

MANY times they have been fucked up at the track I went to. It once was reading 8mph too slow intermitantly.

I can't quite recall it, I believe it was 1.9xxsomething
I only keep tabs on the date, reaction times, 1/4 mi, mph, and opponent.

Hey, maybe he was using my G-tech? It always traps about 5-6 mph too fast, hee, hee.

My 12.90 run was on a 1.72 60ft time.

and my 106.8mph run was on like a 2.1 60ft and only netted a 13.4

Sounds more lik 101mph territory. 105 woulda got you a 13.0-13.1

Dont worry about it, I have seen many cars that trap 13.5 @105+

Not throwing stones here but some of you need to get to the track more.

"If you believe a stock 87GT can trap 100+ then believing JL1314 runs 13.58 @105 shouldnt be a problem"

I was just harassing you Joe, nothing mean spirited :)

Dark, 13.58@105 w/ a 1.9 60x on slicks doesnt add up.

I have seen in NMRA FS a car that ran a 11.8 @ 113 with BFGs.

kevknotch88 06-10-2002 10:10 PM

Sky,
My car has stock heads with a TFS stage 1 cam and a gt-40 and I trapped 104.64 @ 13.651 at rockingham nc which is very near sea level. When the cam was installed, i replaced the valve springs and ran the stock 3:08 gears (145000 miles). A couple of weeks ago I went 8.35 @ 76.11 with 3:55's and ET Streets. Hope the streets and gears will go very low 13's in October at Da Rock. The gears probably had alot to do with my speed, but I know I was considerably faster than several cars I raced on top end.

PS Can fax you the slips

Question... true or false... 60ft have minor bearing over trap speed? 1.9 or 2.3 will usually produce the same no?

Skyman 06-12-2002 01:58 PM

You are correct lizard.

Man I wish I had seen this post earlier, My 88 gt with over 100,000 on the odometer ran a 13.4 at 105 in the 1/4 mile with the stock heads and stock ported intake.
Mods to the car were:
3.55 gears
underdrive race crank pulley
stock ported intake
stock headers
stock gutted h pipe
dynomax mufflers
traction bars
sub frame connectors
tremec trans
ram clutch
k&n air filter
Chip
no a/c
no smog pump
accell coil
home made ram air
We scraped all the black tar stuff off the floor
The car cut a 1.9 to a 2.0 on street tires and would run the 1/4 mile in 13.4 at 105 mph in the middle of the summer.
I never had it to the track on a cool day.
It was done in Gainesville fl and yes the car was a freak.

I wish my current mustang ran half as well as my 88 gt did.
The best time I can get out of my current car is a 12.5 at 109 mph and I had a lot more done to it. It kind of makes you sick to see someone with so little mod’s run that good.

As a matter of fact when I went to the 347 I actually slowed down to a 12.6 at 109 but I know it was not running right and needed a lot of tuning.
