Fellow mustangers who act like ricers.....
I was out hitting the local loop, where all the races are set-up and all the women hang out. I had a buddy with me (6'3" 290lbs, I know a bad choice for racing, but you don't want to get caught solo cruising).
Up along side of us pulls another mustang. I try to be cool and wave. This guy doesn't wave and gives me a dirty look. At the next light he hears that my car has a nice lobe to it at idle. He looks, turns to his friends (2 in the car, combined probably they were a little heavier than my buddy, they were bean poles) and laughs. I look at my buddy and say WTF is this turd laughing at. Well I wasn't going to race from a dead dig with Kelly Chargers (didn't have a lot of money to buy good tires). So we are rolling in first gear and I can tell that he has a gear, but other than that it looks, and sounds stock. So I don't even want to take a first gear stab, so I shift into second and roll a little faster. I am at about 2500-3000 and the guy catches up and we are side by side so we nod and he hits it then I hit it too. Well I was getting worried cause he was out ahead by a little. When my car starts to come alive I slowly start to reel him in (I am really worried at this point because this car appears to be stock). Right before I shift into third I nose him out and traffic is coming up so I didn't shift. He shifted and did the ricer fly by. Well as he goes by I read his license plate that says SPRAYN. What a punk, I guess his N02 wasn't enough that time! ------------------ 88GT stock shortblock, ported GT-40 iron heads, Edlebrock Performer intake, 24# inj, Pro-M 75mm Bullet MAM, 3.73, hurst short throw, F-303, electric fan, alum rad, FMS HD clutch, R134a ac conversion, 70mm TB , and some other stuff I probably forgot, best run so far on ET streets is 13.02@106 with a 1.87 60ft Only been to the track once still alot more tuning to do and need more driving experience.(Full body weight GT, full tank of gas, and sway bars connected, gonna disconnect sway bars and dip |

sweet kill, I hate it when people give dirtly looks, especialy when you acknowledge them first. I guess the babies bottle wasnt big enough huh, oh and how CAN you tell if he had gears? Or were you refering to a gear drive? Which is quite audible.

I could tell he had a gear because he was driving beside me at the same speed taching the same thing that I was (in the same gear, the guy had a monster tach and my buddy could see it). Besides that, I was told the car had a gear. Word travels fast on the street.

Where's the hot spot to race in Madison Heights??
Any other suggested hot spots for the Detroit Metro Area? (Other than the nasty spots downtown, ie.. city airport and the surrounding area's..) I'm on the West side. I use to Frequent Telegraph (from I96 to Ford Road) but it is sort of dying out... |

Was that on Gratiot? Also, was that the stock sounding car with the big hood. A hatch LX I think?

Mine is an 88 GT. Purple, white cowl hood, Welds, Cobra tail lights,... My plate says 12SECGT. |

Yeah that stock sounding car, and it did happen on Gratiot, had a cowl hood I think, and it was turquoise in color (maybe a blue-green color). It was an LX hatch with GT groun-effects I think, or a GT with LX tail-lights.
My car is all black with Fitipaldi 5-stars, most of the time, but sometimes I sport my welds with the skinnies and ET streets, plate says GVN 302. My cousin lives off of 15 and Livernois and he said that there is a guy with a white mustang that is fast in his neighborhood (12's or 11's I think it is a convertible). I don't usually race in the heights, but if we do, we race on the I-75 service drive. They are supposed to race out on Metro-Parkway, I haven't been there yet, but I heard it is a good place. Also 6 mile and Mt. Elliot, Joy and Telegraph, right off of the Clay Ave-Grand Blvd exit (service drive, the north-bound side). Also some of the big money races either take place at Ubly dragway or Lapeer on the weekends. That's a pic of my car. |

It looks sweet! Gotta love the black GT with the Welds. Mine started getting some rust at the bottoms of the doors in the last few months so I am putting on a glass hatch from Ramchargers, a Cobra wing/rear bumper and getting it repainted again.
I know the "SPRAYIN" car. I tried to get him to run on Gratiot but he would not go for some reason. A friend of mine raced him in his notch and walked him pretty bad. My friends car runs 11.90-12.0's @ 115. I think he said that car has a stock motor with a main girdle and a big shot of nitrous. That would suck to have to depend on nitrous to be quick. Are you driving you car now? I'll have to check it out. |

I am not driving it right now. It is a garage car in the winter. I don't bring it out until spring. You could still check it out if you want, it is in my buddy's garage alongside his notch. What are the main crossroads where you live in Troy, cause my cousin lives in Troy, off of Mastin (by 15 and Livernois)?

I live right at 19 and Dequindre. I only took mine out a couple of times when the roads were dry. You are not too far at all. Nice and close to Ramchargers too!
I'd like to check it out. I could drive mine over. The weather has been pretty nice. |
