Default first "run" in my '72 monte carlo

first i'd like to say that this car is loud as fock......no tailpipes, just mufflers.......loud enough that when i started it this morning, 3 people looked out their blinds at it.......

i'm cruisin along at about 35-40 on a practically empty 4 lane.......my car is rumblin' along.........i've got my left hand on the wheel at about the 11 o'clock position......my right arm is stretched across the top of the bench seat.......i'm beaming ear to ear, enjoying a beautiful sunday morning and my new toy........

i sense a car approaching me...........i look over........it is a 4 door mirage sedan.......wheel covers, white exterior with huge spots of bare medal........it has a windshield banner and the same banner stretched diagonally from the passenger door to the hood........the driver is staring at me as hard as he can while bangin' the crap out of gears and slowly pulling on me.......can't let this guy "beat" my new toy, so........

i stand up on the gas........the car hesitates a bit (i need to quickly learn how to adjust a carb), then bites hard with an ever so slight chirp of the rears...........i instantly pulled a few cars, looked at him and made a motion like i was swatting away a pesky fly..........

soon after, i pull off at a gas station........mirage dude pulls up and tells me it wasn't a fair race........i ask if he has 5 minutes and offer to run him in my 4 cylinder...........he asks what it is, i tell him.......he looks at his car, frowns, and then drives off

You might ease the hesitation if you don't run open headers. I'd get a something soon, hate to burn a valve like that.(I did once)

Sounds promising, got any pics/specs?

He's not running open headers. He's got dumps, ie no pipe after the mufflers. It's not gonna hurt anything
