Post Fontana's last day for a while ,timeslip

Hi guys, I went to Fontana's last day untill February. It was totaly packed, over 400 cars showed up. I wasnt expecting that because the last time I went they didnt break 200.

My best time before the heads and intake was a 14.1 - 96mph on a 2.0 60ft powershifting.
I got NO traction yesterday and hit a 14.0 at 101mph on a 2.3 60ft GRANNIE shifting it. I spun completely thorugh first and till 5000 in second. Everyone seems to run slower here though. I saw a 97 SS running 14.60's and a fox with a NOVI, headers and a Holley intake hit a 14.1. So I guess it aint all bad. Elevation is around 1800 ft.

Sounds like your car is running lots better since the dyno tune. You probably are losing .3 to 60' just from poor traction/launch. I'd bet you're capable of 13.5-13.7 with some drag radials or maybe just a better launch technique.

Rev, Im already running Nitto Drag radials. But theyre skinny 225's and their going bald. My launch technique is to simply slip the clutch. If I dump the clutch at any rpm I spin like crazy. Im going to get a set of MT E.T. streets next. I might step up to 410's too. These puny 355's just arent cutting it.

Fastang, lower gears may just make you spin more. Lack of torque to the rear wheels just doesn't sound like what the problem is. Try to do mods that will make you hook first. That's what's limiting you right now.

Fastang - I agree with your observation - when I went on Saturday it seemed like everyone was running alot slower than they should have gone. I made a post about it earlier. There were alot of new (98 & up) LS1 Camaro's and Trans Ams (Manual and Auto's) that were running mostly 13.7 - 14.3! I was very happy with my time. Hopefully I can do a few more mods before it opens back up in January and all of us So. Cal guys can meet up there!

For comparison sake what kind of trap speeds were the LS1's putting down.

I was expecting to see a lot more than a 101mph trap out of your car with 289rwhp.

It should trap 106.

Maybe the track was just bad. Carlsbad seems to me that it really turns out the MPH.

Rev, I plan on getting some ET streets with the lower gears.

LfiveohX, Im glad to see that my time was close to yours since we have close mods as well and I spun like crazy. Doesnt make me feel so bad about my 14.0

Sky, What happened? I thought you were going to come down as well. Your right about Carlsbad crunching out the mph. I was hitting 14.4 @ 98 mph there before my heads and when I hit the 14.1 at Bakersfield a month later my mph was only 96!...but I had perfect traction. BTW I hit 282 RWHP.

I thought you got my PM.

Read your private messages.

Still 282rwhp ought to produce better traps. Also theres more HP in that motor for sure.

How much did that dyno cost u btw, im thinking about doing it.

It will cost you about 500 bucks and that incudes the chip. Its worth the money and the results will be accurate.
