Default Getting Posi?????????? Help

My friend and I have been arguing about putting posi on my mustang. He says that its good for an all around race car but i tell him that its more likely that you will slip out on turns because of the differential. Pros and cons of posi?

Well, if you have the Ford Posi unit rebuilt it is actually very good for most racers.. If you're not wanting to be full out race, then you can get all the perf you want out of the 8.8 -- The rear end shop that did mine added clutches to each side, so now I have 3 on each, instead of 2. I believe they are also of better grade material. This way, if you blow out your unit, most of the time you can just have it rebuilt. Cone types like Auburn, you can't rebuild. You blow it, you just bought a whole new one.

I've tested mine by laying down rubber, I lay down two equally dark, equally wide strips of rubber. but I still maintain the ability for the diff to slip when making turns, to avoid the barking like a locker or tight posi would do..

I would just say to have your Ford Trac-Lok rebuilt to handle better.. IMO, but someone else may have a better idea.

You don't want posi, you want a good limited slip differental.

Posi is a 'GM' product. Just thought I would clear that up.

I would go with the Saleen Maxgrip limited-slip differential myself. They gained several miles per hour in the slalom just by swapping it in (of course I'm more handling oriented than launch oriented myself). I haven't heard how they 60 ft.

Question

Can a non Traction-Lok 8.8" differential be converted to a Traction-Lok differential? Is it cheaper to just buy a Traction-Lok differetial?
