![]() I finally thought about it and im gona sell my 00 v6 auto stang and im gona buy a used stang its a 96 auto gt. Well I wana know how much HP does it produce? I got tired of getting beaten on my v6 so thats why im selling it Ive had some good races on it.. and it kind of sucks cus its my first stang that I had and im gona get rid of it and get a 96 GT. another reason is because I like the body shape of that 96 GT and the newer cars like the 00 that I have well its not all that. Im gona fix it up. Once I get that 96 auto gt stang, am I gona win more on races? I mean like if a honda or cars like that pull next to me will I beat them with that car. I eventually plan to customise it.

![]() A 96 auto GT will run a mid 15 in the 1/4 mile....If I were you I would buy a 94 or 95 stang of that same body style they are a overall better car if you ask me. and they run high 14's stock and are cheaper to mod.
If you do get that car get the heads and cams out of a 99+ stang and run low 14's. Good luck ![]()

![]() I would go with the 1996 b/c they are going to be faster than a 5.0 I had two friends who owned a 95 (5.0) and a 96 (4.6) and the 96 beat him bad every time.
But now take into consideration, are you going to mod it? If so I would go with the 5.0 The car will be cheaper and all the parts will be cheaper. Not to mention the 5.0 sounds MUCH better. And I think the 5.0 responds pretty good to any mod alittle better than a 4.6 SOHC. I think. |

![]() It takes a lot of money to really build up a 281. That's not to say it's a bad motor...it's signifigantly more advanced, and probably within ten years it will have a strong performance market. But for now, it's hard to beat a 5.0 for bang-for-your-buck.

![]() As you have heard mods for a 4.6 is still quite costly.(look at mine )....but the prices are falling. The prices are getting closer to the cost of 5.0 mods and with the future of the ohc engine and the number of sales prices will continue to drop

![]() I might as well ask this question since no one else has...but why are you so set on getting an automatic transmissioned GT? Manual trannied Mustangs stock for stock easily smoke the automatic ones. Although in traffic and such an automatic is nice, but it's not that hard to learn to drive a stickshift car well.
oh.....and if it's worth anything, if you want to modify the car for less money, then the 5.0L is the way to go, but if you'll have some money, the 4.6L is a very good engine and will eventually have as many if not more aftermarket support than the 5.0L does. Changing to later model heads, Bullitt intake/throttle body and a good 9 psi supercharger will get you TONS of power and shouldn't be all that expensive to purchase and install (well, at least in terms of getting all that power). ![]() I'd stay away from the automatic trannies. They are real dogs. Get a 5 speed and some 3.73 gears and you'll be able to compete with most street cars.
As far as the year, I'm biased to the 94-95 5.0 motors. Much better aftermarket support. Ricers could hang with a 96 automatic! ![]()

1995 GT 17/25 1996 GT 18/27 Like everybody else, get the stick. It is a lot of fun. After the first two days, you will feel like a pro. At least thats how long it took me to get use to my 96 Cobra. And that was my first stick. But do whatever feels comfortable for you. |

![]() Go with a 95 GT w/ a 5speed if you want to get good power and not spend to much.
If you plan on spending a lot and dont care, then get the 96gt and the auto. The 5speed will be better down into the 11's. Skyler
