NOOOOO!!! I finally lost (long)
Man is it a full moon or somethin??? All the modded cars on here seem to be getting beat. Well here it goes.
RACE 1:First, the night starts off with chasing down this 98 LS1 with gears, exhaust, free mods, and a hottie in the passenger seat. Her boyfriend was driving. At first he chickened out. (I guess the Supercharged stickers on the hood didn't appeal.) He chickened there. I continued to drive around with my bud for about 30 minutes, when I was about to go back to the lot, and THERE HE WAS AGAIN!!...I swung back around, and caught him. It was on. I HATE STREET TIRES... 1st, 2nd, and some of 3rd, I spun like a mother. I was still pulling him, but spinning. I ended up about 2 cars ahead of him there. Then we went from a 25 mph roll...oh yeah...I was thinking. TOAST. Nope, didn't happen....same thing. SMOKE. I did pull him about 3 cars to about 70 that time though. He came back to our hangout and was prolly the coolest GM guy I have met. RACE 2: This was abainst my bud that was honking at me. HE has a 91 GT with 4.10's, My old Cobra Intake(ported) A badass custom cam, TB, exhaust....DSS 306. He is runnin 13.40's on street tires. He had his sportsmans tonight. We went from a 30 mph roll. I immediately pulled him about 4 cars to about 70. He was pissed, but cool about it. RACE 3Well, it was dead out, and some of our "southside" TRS Guys came up with their notches....NICE CARS. The one I raced was a 93 Notch with a ported Cobra Intake, Ported Windsor Sr's, Lunati cam, exhaust, 3.73's....He weighed 3060 with him, dynoed 306 rwhp, and he ran a 12.40@112 on 295 street tires....THE SAME ONES HE HAD ON TONIGHT!!!!! I knew I had a tuffy. We all went out to the turnpike acess roads, and the jackasses marked off about 500 feet more than a 1/4...I didn't know at the time. We lined up , and it was on. He honked 3 times, and we left. Same thing, I launched at idle, and IMMEDIATELY hit the limiter, he took off. 2nd, I hit the limiter, let off, and almost hit the curb. He had about 4 cars on me. I hit 3rd still spinning a little to about 4800, and FINALLY started to catch him. Through 3rd, I gained about 2 cars pretty quickly, and power shifted 4th. After the shift, I caught another car, and was at his bumper by about 115 or so, and the line was a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG way ahead. I was at the limiter, and had to shift to 5th about 300 feet before the line. It was over then, he pulled a car back on me. We went down to do our circle around to come back the other way, and we hit a 5 mph tomm on concrete. I spun 1st and 2nd, not as bad, about even. Hit 3rd, and I was off. So I won that one. He was cool, he told me that once he heard me hit 3rd, he was like...here we go, but traction hurt me BAD. He raced his bud with a 150 shot and Lunati cam, and it was dead even. He runs 11.90's. So I know I am in the 11's easy with traction....my mph tells that much. Oh man, that's awesome. How many Vipers have you run yet? You should be able to beat a stock Viper GTS (both of you with drag radials) if you continue to use good driving skills and perhaps improve your launch a bit.
What is your rev limiter set at? Just wondering: are you saying that your friend ran 12.4s without nitrous and ran dead even with a friend of his who, with a 150shot nitrous, runs 11.9s? or are you saying that your friend who runs 12.4s used a 150shot nitrous to run dead even with the 11.9s guy? I will assume you ran 12.3 @ 119 on drag radials and since you're having traction problems through mainly first and second, 11.9s for your car are only a matter of getting traction (ET Streets). So, you could say you run 12.3s on street tires and mid to low 11s on slicks. ----------------------------------------- 351W-powered 1979 Ford Mustang notchback Stock 5.8L under 4" cowl, C4 w/ shift kit Holley 750 cfm, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake 1 5/8" MAC shorty headers, Al driveshaft 2.5" Off road H-pipe, 2-chamber Flowmasters Front: 225/60/15, Rear: 255/60/15 Eagle GT II Weld wheels (15x6;15x8), 8.8" Rear w/ 3.55s 14 x 4” K&N air filter (getting the Xtreme setup someday) "Red, thou art my companion. Nice races - if you're gonna lose, it's always better if it's one of our own ! On slicks, I don't think you'll have a problem breaking into the 11's.

Well say your trapping about 120. If you lost those lowering springs and got some drag struts with some ET Streets or ET Drags you could definatly hit low 11's!
But I sawy 11.7 is what your going to get with a slick type tire on that suspension setup. You got yours too eh? Sucks when it;s not an outright a$$ whooping from a 10 second car. You just know you could have done better.
I don't know what tires you have, but I 60 footed a 1.74 with 275 drag radials, and 90/10's along with the Eibach drag kit. That launch ate my clutch. They actually stick pretty good on the street. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 11.8 @ 123 (7/14/01) 1992 BadAzz Wrangler 1993 Explorer |
