Have you raced a Z06???
 

Has anybody here raced a Z06 vette??? If you have did you win? How much did you lose byif you did?(in car lenghts) What was done to your stang at the time or the race?

Reason I want to know reguards my last post about the vette boy that thinks he can beat 03 cobra with his 99 vette auto.

Well hes getting z06 soon and i wanted to know how modded any mustang (if any mods needed) needs to be to beat a stock z06.

The ZO6 is no joke and people that race them had better run faster than 115 mph trap speeds. I havn't raced one yet, but I watched 2 make passes at the track. 1 was running 12.60s @ 114 and the other was running 12.30s @ 117 mph. Both were stock. They are faster now. These were 01s and it was about 50 degrees outside. I beat regular C5s without a problem.

The new z06's are low 12 second cars @118 or so. If I was going to race a Z06 I would have to spray the 5.0 and hope for the best.

You would probably need heads,intake cam, exhaust, gears /slicks and luck to beat a Z06 ina fox body.

How much are Z06's? I heard a program on the speed channel and a ford guy said "with the amount of money you would spend on a Z06, you could buy a mustang and mod it for the same amount and have a fast car" Is he right? I have a feeling he is...:D

The 405 ZO6's I've seen at the track were going 114-115. I have not yet seen a stock one go faster. Not to say they can't.

I have beat a handful of them only at the track, and never on the street. I usually get them by 5 cars or so. It's kinda hard to tell.

Well if you trapping 115 in a mustang foxbody, and with slicks, your in the high 11's, or should be, low 12's at worst, so yes my z06 killer would consist of a 10:1 short 347, ported tfs, or afr's, all the goodies, 4.10 grs, and e.t. streets, should be no problem getting high 11's with a 1.7 60', that would give a stock zo6 helll, and for less money than a z06.

Then spray it and hope the t-5 lives, and he would be toast:D

I raced one on street tires and lost by a hood. After a terrible launch I made back a 3 car deficit in 4th gear only. On ET streets he doesn't stand a chance.

That sounds about right. Dark 5.0 is right as well there are some 02 Z06's that can trap 117+stock I have been witness to it. But if your running high 11's you should be in good shape as most trap 115-117ish and run 12.2-12.6. To answer the other guys question of Price and how it relates. I just looked a buying an 02 Z06 (may still do it)Right now because the 03 are on the way and with the stock market doing what it's doing they are being reduced I could pick it up for 44K with 0.0% interest if I decided to finance rather then pay cash. Yeas you could build a beast of a Fox Body for 44K but thats a whole nother thing altogether. I could build a Z06 for WAY, WAY less then the new Lambo and kick it's azz in every catagory. It's just what kinda car you want I like Vettes so I'd buy a Vette.

I'm sorry that the Vette guy is pulling the old ..Well I'm buying a Z06 and you can't beat me then crap. Every car can be beat it comes down to taste nad just how often you want to get beat. The 03 Cobra and the Z06 are easily the best two values around right now if you want a new car.

raced from like 65 to 110.. he pulled 4 cars. i had a passenger, and he has exhaust, filter, and a powerduct.

a friend of mine recently got a 2003 Z06. We have raced a few times from a role and from a staged lauch.

From a staged 1.2.3.. i spun for the first half of the 60ft, z06 got a decent lauch and he pulled me top end 3 cars.

On a role we are side by side from 40mph-105mph, after that he starts to pull.

Now i'm far from stock cam,heads,intake ect... so i should give him a good run.

I will try aginst him again but next i'll be running with micky T's E.T. street tires. Then i'll give him a run for his money.
