Angry UH OH?

YESTERDAY, I WENT TO THE RACE TRACK AND WHEN I FINISHED MY LAST PASS, I STOPPED AT THE BOTH TO GET MY SLIP, AND NOTICED THAT I HAD NO MORE OIL PRESSURE. (HOLY S*#!) I SAID TO MYSELF AND QUICKLY PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT I COULD SEE. THERE WAS NOT PUDDLE OF OIL, NOT EVEN A DROP ANYWHERE, AND I DIDN'T BELEIVE THAT MY GAUGE TOOK A DUMP SO SOON. THE ENGINE SOUNDED FINE SO I DROVE IT HOME THAT NIGHT ABOUT 40mi, AND WHEN I REACHED MY TURNOFF FROM THE FREEWAY I HEARD A NOISE LIKE YOU WOULD IF YOU HAD NO MORE OIL PRESSURE IN YOUR ENGINE (DUH). SO IF SOMEONE COULD GIVE ME SOME SOUND ADVICE ON HOW TO IDENTIFY THIS PROBLEM SO I CAN CORRECT IT IN THE FUTURE, I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY. (THANKS IN ADVANCE).

What oil pressure guage do you have? Don't ever trust the factory gauges, they are not very accurate. My advice to anyone with a street strip car is to invest in the vitals as well as the hi-po stuff. Just my .02 cents.

Sounds like you broke your oil pump shaft.

I'm surprised you made all the way home. You probably did break your oil pump drive. During your run you didn't hear a loud clunk? I once sheered off the teeth on the distributor gear and thought I had blown something up it was so loud, and all that did was deliver a spark to the wrong cylinder.
