Question How fast is 2 fast

I wanted to see what you all thought.

When do you shut down a "street" race?
2x the posted speed limit?
1 car length?
5 car lengths?

I'll go up to 2x the speed limit depending on traffic and the area.

I usually end it about midway through 4th gear, because thats about where I hit the traps in the 1/4mile (this gives me a good way to baseline how I compare to the other person a long as the race began from a dead stop). On rare occassions I've gone as far as 5000rpm in 5th, but it is scary as hell w/ drag suspension and no front sway bar....also my rear end wanders like a son of a b*tch which adds to the Pucker Factor!!!

i think every race is different..i just weigh my options of being caught or getting someone hurt, etc and go from there..
usually i shut down around 90-100 mph, if i dont need to sooner for the reasons listed above..

However long it takes for me to whoop em, or for him to whoop me, if it's neck to neck, i'll run until about 100 which is close to my 1/4 trap, then shut her down, even if he thinks he won...oh well im not going to jail....im not going back!! oh ok, sorry im leaving now.

How fast is too fast? When you wreck an die I guess? till then I dunno? I always race till the other guy gives up or I get my *** spanked bad enough. Never gave any thought to what a proper limit might be?

The only thought process I go through now is.

No traffic - good
No passengers - good
Let' race.

About three years ago it was, lets go and run. If ya don't like it when I go fast then bail while you can cause I won't stop till I've won or been beat. Kinda dumb in retrospect. Cause I didn't care who was with me in the car and if they got hurt or not. The race was that important. Now... Ah the race is still important but not at the expense of somebody else. If me and dummy too are the only ones involved in the wreck, no big loss, just a lapse in judgement

Speed limit in a race should only be limited by traffic or road conditions. I ran a guy in a Dodge Challenger all the way up to 130 in my Pace Car - hell of a race, never got further than a car difference the whole way. We shut down when we came up on some traffice.

I go until it looks as if it should be over. If I keep pulling and he makes no gains, its stupid to keep going. If the car trailing, whether it be me or the other, is running or gaining just even slightly, then it goes until someone b!tches out or acts like they have no balls. Usually, if I have to, I'll go to 120 but no higher. Okay, maybe 125...
