Question How To Get Good 60' Times On Radials??? Please Help.

I really need to get better 60' times, so i am pulling my sway bar tomorrow(probably). my best 60' ever was a 2.24, and the best last frday was a 2.29.

how do you get off the line with a T-5, 3.08's, and 225/60-r15 tires without a lot of spinning?

would it be worth my time to purchase some 4cyl springs for all around on the car? or just the back, or front?

what kind of psi should i run in these tires?(i was told 32-35psi is best)

Thanks

Post just an idea

do you run on radials in the front? if so, have you thought about over-inflating them for track use only and then taking them back to the suggested psi to drive on the street. another way to better 60 ft. times is simply investing in e.t. streets or the ever ready slicks. that is just my .02.

You should buy lower control arms, drag shocks and springs. Don't forget to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! You have to learn how to slip the clutch just right. Drive it like it's raining and the road is wet.

Remember my sig used to say 1.9 60' with 225/60's, that was hard to do, i only did it once, the track was prepped good (front sway was off), and i slipped the clutch just right, and got the car right on the border line of bogging, and spinning,

but there is no radial that will hook like a wrinkle wall tire, some sfc's maybe will help you get off the line faster, lower cntrl arms, and i think a lighter aluminum d/s might help, just mho.

Ive found that launching at 2000 - 2300 and having 22- 23 psi in rear tires works well. ive pulled 2.034 60fts on bridgstone potenzas re910 radials.

It depends alot on the track & how it's prepped. Ive gone a best of 1.82 on regular 245/50/16 BFG Radial T/A's. The track was super sticky & I rode the clutch out of the hole.

I'd put the air pressure down to 20-22, & like mentioned above, over inflate the fronts.

Removing the sway bar will help alot, but the only way to go is with drag struts & rear control arms. If you can, use skinnies on the front also.

I have been able to consistently get 60 foot times in the 1.90's on street radials, but with 3.73's, but the following advice will still be relevant.

Run your rears at the max recommended on the sidewall, maybe a touch more, reason is you need all the contact patch available from the tire, running it underinflated as so many do is reducing the contact patch.

Providing they are in excellent condition, inflate your front tires to around 42 psi, this gives less rolling resistance down the track.

Remove your front swaybar, NOT the rear.

NOW! for the kicker, I know it sounds butt-backwards but i ALWAYS ran a 1/2 tank of gas, plus 90-180lbs of concrete bags in the hatch for traction, as we know the race is usually won out of the hole, it may slow you down a touch, but it will win you alot of drag races against street tired dudes WITHOUT the weight.

Try it, you can always take 'em out right.
