Talking Dodge Neon screeching in 2nd

Hi,
Ok, there's this orange Neon in my area that I see pretty much every now and then. It's somewhat riced up, or is it?

One day, my bro told me he saw this dude doing a smoke show in a plaza (it rained earlier and the roads were a bit moist).

Then a few days ago, I saw him taking a right turn to leave a plaza across my house, and I heard him peel his tires in 1st, and then I heard the peel again in 2nd.

Now, I dunno about you all but Neons are 2.0Ls making 132HP & 129LB/ft. (or 150HP & 131LB/ft. depending on model), and I don't think this is enough power to make it peel in 2nd. Or is it?

I think this guy either has a Turbo or some other poweradder setup. What do you all think?

Bye!

Spinning tires means absolutely nothing other than he must have a lot of money to burn on a new set. Chirping second is probably the result of an aftermarket transmission module if it's an automatic, otherwise it's powershifting (do they even make manuals for those?). They are NO demonstration of power whatsoever. I can do both of these in my beater: a 1985 carbed 4-banger hatchback 'Stang.

If somebody wants to shave the head and/or add a turbo on a mitsubishi engine, they're welcome to it. I'd have to mess with this dude though, hehehe. Neons make good boom boxes; a friend of mine has one loaded with 12s'!!!

I have seen a Metro chirp 2nd....a 2nd gear chirp means nothing....now a 3rd gear chirp is something to worry about.

my buddy used to be able to chirp 3rd gear in his VW golf .....he would powershift into 3rd and swerve the steering wheel at the same time. it was funny as hell....

I saw a saturn burn lots of rubber in 1st and get a little in 2nd the other day. I was like wtf then I figured it out... they have crappy suspensions not made for traction and tires the size of my spare donut... if we had similar setups on our cars you could probably chirp 5th.

Several aftermarket companies make some pretty kick a$$ mods for neons. One company makes a NO2 setup that works wonders for stock neons. I think they bested a mid 14-high 13 out of a stock neon with nitrous...a little something to think about. Only the Neon R/T has a 5-spd manual..at least I think.
A base model Intrepid can squeek the tires in second sometimes, but the 3.5 ones with the turbos can spin over second alright.
