1st real race with VORTECH!!
Well, last night, my buddy and I were on the way to the clubs in downtown St. Louis, and along came a nice, rec 96-98 COBRA behind me on the interstate. He was tailing me and the interstate was getting ready to spread open to 5 lanes in about 1/4 mile, so i slowed to about 60mph so I could grab 3rd gear (just right with 3.73's). He jumped up on my *** as soon as the road widened and i reached for 3rd and looked back as I put about 6-7 car lenghts on him. Then, when he caught up with me, he was "barkin'" at me pretyt loudly, so we ran them again. I hit 3rd at about 50 or 55mph and pulled him steady all the way through 1/2 of 5th gear. I gotta say that I LOVE my blower.
When I had it dynoed, it put 360h.p to the wheels, ( about 415 flywheel) but he stopped tuning it there b/c he said the types of head gaskets I used were poor quality and if he tuned it anymore, they might blow easily when driving it. He said if I brought it back with good head gaskets and ARP head bolts instead of the factory head bolts, he could get me 450 h.p. at the wheels...I'm seriously thinking about changin' those cursed gaskets!! Anyways, just thought I would share my 1st race with you all!! ------------------ ************************* '89 GT, T-5, Vortech S-Trim, GT-40P heads, MAC 1 5/8" headers, MAC Off-Road H-Pipe, 2 1/2" Flowmasters, Edelbrock 65mm T.B., Trick Flow Intakes, Crane 2031 cam, 1.7 Roller Rockers, Screamin' Deamon Coil, 255lph Fuel Pump, T-Rex, SVO Motorsport Clutch, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, Formula GP Suspension, MAC Upper & Lower Control Arms, FMS 3.73 Gears. ************************* |

At least you can find races with your new blower,I've played around with people in town, but get no takers thus far.. ------------------ http://home.dencity.com/Mustanguy/PatrickG.JPG Paxton Blown 87GT ICQ#91504337 |
What gaskets did you use? You should always use a good Fel-pro gasket and ARP head bolts. I could definitely see problems with junk hardware. Especially when you are blown.
450 at the wheels sounds a tad high for a GT-40P headed 302, but I guess it would not suprise me too much. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 12.0 @ 122 1992 BadAzz Wrangler 1993 Explorer |
