fastest in my town now!
Hey everyone tonight is a night to be rememberd for me! (if my dad reads this i am in deap SH!T but o-well)
My friend drives that fastest street machine in my town with mid 13's on slicks. He was at my house and told me he was going to run his truck for awhile and i asked what road he was gonna be on so that i may "accidentally" run into him. Well anyway. Here are our stats and the race summary Him - a truck with a 350 punched to a 383 that was pumping about 418 horses. he had 3.73 gears in the back with a spool and a 350 tranny to boot. He was also running open exhaust and it was LOUD! Me - my 89 gt with just 2 chamber flows 3.73 gears, BBK cold air kit, stock tranny (with the synchros out), subframe connectors, my balls-o-steal (haha), and dual force clutch. THE RACE - he told me to just start cause he was cocky and he had the right to be cause everyone compares their stuff to his. I started in second cause my first gear just burns the tires and he was spinning out thru 2 gears also. So basically it was like 6500 SHIFT (3).... 6500 SHIFT (4)... then at the finish 5500 SHIFT (5). well that is pretty much it.. it was by 1 car length i won. i was stoked! i came in my pants ! lol not really but it was awesome! FYI - i am not some punk kid that thinks he is all that.. i raced a previous mustang so i know how to race. We also have no strip here so i figure on slicks i can rus mid 13's and on street tire low 14's to super high 13's. O-well just wanted to let you guys know cause this is my first MAJOR thing to accomplish in my stang. |

So you have a dual force clutch? Is there such thing? Centerforce Dual friction or force 1 or 2. I don't know there might be. Your synchos are out and your going to run 13's with your mod's!?!? No way. The population that hasn't been to the track say oh a 13.0 is average, oh a high 13 that's "OK", man people have something else coming to them. Shifting at 6500!?!? Hmmmm.... I'm starting to see a partern. 418hp? Hmmmm......Well don't jiz in your pants just yet, I see high 14's-15's at best. If there is no track, how do you know he runs 13's? I think this is kinda like a buddy of mine, thought he was in the "12's" maybe low 13's, and he went to the track and could only pull off 14.9. I don't know maybe I'm just up way too early!
SaleenGTS-you come to my town....We'll see if you are the fastest here... Don't you need to update your sig? 1. how do i know he ran 13's? cause when he was going to buy the truck we watched the previouse owner do a 1/4 run.. yeah 13.589! saw it with my own eyes so i know the power of this truck. 2. why did i shift at 6500? umm actually i dunno. i guess since it was my first race in a car that red-lines 7 grand i just went to 6500 what shoulda i shifted out at? 3. yes he has 418 hp. how do i know? majik! haha but man i don't have a D@amn saleen like u or i would be runnin faster. for just bein 17 and not haveing a richy mom or dad to back me up i think that is pretty ******* good! if i had the money for a saleen or some twisted wedge heads or hot cam or whatever else i would surly get them but i don't.. o-well you guys kinda suck for knockin me like that saying some of that stuff.. you just coulda congrats to ya kid or somethin. |

If your car is stock it's redlining at 6,250rpm not 7,000. But good race, go to the track sometime and give us an update. No-way someone is running 13's with that stock of a car with the syncro's out in their tranny, but YEAH GOOD RACE! =oP

Damn boys!! Super Stang I wasn't tryin to flame, sorry you took it that way. I was just messin with ya about comin to my town. Good race, I'd be proud too, but yeah 6500 is way too high....especially with a stock motor. I'd shift around 5400-5500.
NOW for the smarta$$ comment about being a rich kid. Wow, you are pretty bad@$$ makin a comment like that. I work my @$$ off for everything I have, I am 23, and don't live with mommy and daddy, I make a livin, and enjoy every bit of it. My first car was a 4 banger, so look at who is spoiled. Secondly, Know your cars...87-93 Saleens are stock except for the SSC's,SC's, and SA-10's, or if opted for it. Good kill
Never shift at 6500 rpm's you will run slower that way shift at 5200-5400. You are probably running a mid to high 14 If you are the fastest in your town with a stock stang with a worn out tranny, thats just sad. Dont take our criticism personaly alot of the guys here really know there stuff. Read the post and ask questions and you will learn alot there are alot of ways to tune your car and make it faster. You still have much to learn having a stang will be a good learning experience. Hey Super_Stang if you are useing your stock tach it is Crap you might wont to get a new one. I know I was shifting at 7000 on the stock and it was the fast shift point Now I got a new tach and found that I was shifting at about 5900 and not 7000.

woah hold on a min guys.. i found my 89 for only 1600 bucks. i worked at mcdonalds for d@mn near 2 years so i could get a car..
as for that stock tach thingy. then if i was shifting at 6500 so then it was really 5 somethin? I was waiting to get a sprin compression that i could buy some new valve springs so that i could rev higher. as for the tranny, the synchros aren't that crap they just get a little from 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4. But i think with a rebuilt tranny and some slicks and the new springs i can run low 14's. also, when we went at it we both got crappy traction. so i didn't actually run that good then. however GOOD NEWS! my dad finally agreed that if i could get the wheels he would get the slicks! of hell yeah! the nearest track is around 1 hr away and i think it is something like $75 for 3 passes or something like that so i am going to get to go soon. i didn't mean u were a rich kid, i just mean i didn't have the money to get a saleen or i would have gotten one. BTW is was a bow-tie that i did kill.. a 69 chevy c-10 to be exact. AND DON'T DISS MY TOWN! lol hey for 3000 people and kinda out in nowheresville, i think i am pretty d@mn good. O-WELL I AM HAPPY NO MATTER WHAT. I AM STILL STOKED! |

OH HELL NO!.. i dunno who the hell you tihnk you are talking that crap like that. If you would have read earlier youwould know i that i am 17 and that i worked hard as hell to get that car (it was only 1600). No i don't use any d@amn credit cards from either of my parents to buy mods. I do work. But i don't show up to any track or show with stuff my parents bought me. I do work if you woulda read earlier you might know that.. and a truck with 418 horses, i know no 88 lx STOCK can beat it cause i have seen him beat plenty o 5.0's that were stock and none of them were keeping up... so i dunno where the hell you got the idea i came from a rich family and that my dad bought my car for me or that i had some tricked out car but you need to shut the hell up.

thanx guys for all that stuff.
Oh i deffinatly know that that truck can beat me on slicks and on a real track. But he had worn street tires so he was spinning them thru 1 AND 2 gear. he didn't stop smoking them untill 3 and by then i was already ahead of him and he couldn't catch up. |

DUSTIN- Don't make me come all the way out there to OK and show you how it is done Hell by the time I get out there my SPEC clutch will be broke in and we can do some real racing. I yanked the motor Monday to replace the pan gasket, and also added some nice sweet Fabbed Alum, valve covers and Stefs breather's, I'll get some pics. The covers are so big it makes my 302 look like a Big Block.
This thread has been interesting and made my day better. Definitly get a good tach, and shift around 5000, most stock 5.0L die around 4800-5000 depending on outside temp. I wish a 13sec car cut it here in my area..home of the blower and juice. I am just happy my little NA 302 can still get the best of them at times. ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension, SPEC stage III clutch, Lakewood SFI bell, S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! <B |
