Thumbs down Interesting prelued

I was cruising memmorial last saterday night, it was about 11. i was with my brother and we were out looking to make some good kills. I see an early model prelued maybe a 96 to 98, i dont know hondas. anyway. i see him in front of me so i speed up a little bit to catch up with him. i get up next to him and he gives me a little rev of his discusting fart cannon. not sure if it was one of those vtechs or not. im pretty sure it wasnt. anyway. so i drop it down into 2nd, just getting ready for him to floor it. were goin about 45, so i hear the utter maddness of his fart cannon deploy as a signal to dump clutch and floor it. so i do so and i pull on him somewhat. inch by inch saddly enough. witch i thought was alright knowing that hes lighter and he has alot more horsepower. from what iv heard 200 or so. so i pull on him a little bit before having to slow down after about 80. so we go up some, and hes wantin another shot at it. he was so eager, i just knew something was up. so we come up to a light and take off at the green. i pound him into the ground rediculously off the start. and stay infront to about 50 before having to shut down for traffic, i probably had a good 3 cars on him. then he STILL wants some more. so we come up to another light. he revs, i rev back. i rev up to about 2g's and hold it. light turns and i luanch. now this one was interesting. omfg, i kick his *** worse this time on the luanch then last. i take it up to 4500rpm slam her into 2nd making a very loud baarrkkk, so im about half way up my 2nd gear, gettin ready to take her into 3rd. thinkin man, that was the easyist kill iv ever had. so i can see him in my passanger mirror, all of the sudden BBBBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRR, this guy ZOOOMS by me doin like 80, i knew it he had nitrous. kindof weird experience actualy, how fast he zoomed by me all the sudden. well it was fun. technicly i still kicked his *** 2 times 3 if it wasnt for the nitrous. it was fun tho

what is a 94 mustang lx? v8, v6?????????

the last generation of preludes was introduced for the 1997 model year (1997-2001). all of them were VTEC. horsepower was rated from 195 to 200 at the flywheel (depending on model year). when driven right, should be good for mid-high 15's stock. with bolt-ons, should run mid to low 15's

the 96 models has a base version (115 horses, i think), an Si (160 hp), and a VTEC model (190 hp). the 96 VTEC's are a bit quicker than the 1997-ups.

IMHO, the 97-ups are some of the best looking cars on the road.

It seems the blue bottle is all they have to hang they're hats on....

pssst invest in a supercharger and watch him as his jaw drops to the floor as he hits the bottle and just can't catch up...

Supercharged Mustang Vs the blue bottled import....

Mustang all day long....

I had a Civic do that to me once...
(For some reason they tend to miss the "Supercharged" emblem and the blower whine...)

It was pretty funny when he hit the juice and I still kept pulling on him.... quite hard by the way....

Live by the boost, die by the boost....

yo inferno, you seem to know alot about turbos...

tell me is the plumbing for that type of setup unreal or what...

I mean you have to install the intercooler and all that im sure its much more difficult than a blower....

Im just wondering are turbos eaiser on the motor?

The plumbing isn't very hard on an inline motor, but with a v motor, it becomes quite difficult. In terms of ease on the motor, the only negative effect from a turbo charger in terms of stress on the motor is an increase of temperature in the engine bay. That neccessitates installing a front mount or water to air intercooler. A supercharger however puts stress on the crank and basically takes power to make power. With a roots type blower, boost is instantaneous, but IMO, a centrifugal supercharger is not better than a turbo with the same size compressor. Not only does it have the drag on the motor, but it doesn't reach peak boost until close to redline where a turbo is free to spool up and would make quite a bit more mid-range power than the centrifugal supercharger and top-end with the compressor being the same size and having the same wheel.

Most people who complain about turbos either have overboosted their motors or knows someone who has.

or didn't maintain it properly.......

turbo's require a little more daily attention/maintenence than n/a's.........

but nothing too bad.......

definitely have to worry about temperatures, proper cooling after running hard, boost spike, and some other issues while tuning

Turbos require the same attentiona s other forced induction, just in different ways. ive dealt with turbos a while. With a turbo you learn 3 things. Ceramic coatings are your best friend in many ways, a good oil cooler with a small fan on a switch that is activated with a turbo timer (But freespins otherwise). the Turbotimer= the biggest save for a turbo. As long as you do proper maint a turbo can last a VEERRRY long time. Although this applies true to any vehicle.

I do agree that a turbo requires a bit more attention than a Blower but it makes up for it in Turbine efficiency. Now if we could combine the Postative displacement charectoristics of a roots blower with The efficiency of a Turbocharger, there would be no question.

This thread appears to have drifted off the original topic to more of a technical nature and is no longer relevant to street racing.
