With a 351, ported 205's, and a YS-Trim (try a cogged Novi2k next time ), why in the world would you have to push your car that hard to beat a 'ricer'? You could have probably went half throttle and not had any worries about losing.

Ah well, poo happens I guess. Just tell your wife (future wife) that you need to postpone the wedding so you can fix your car. She'll just love you!!

Looking at that combo I would have to say that you spent some real big $$$ on everything, including a professional engine build, no? I assume you've contacted the engine builder to help you diagnois what the cause of the engine failure was? Just a guess, but was it detonation?

Hope it all works out for you.

Did you ask HER first? I'm almost in the same boat. I just got engaged. My savings fund for a new shortblock went to the Jeweler for her ring. It didn't seem fair forking over $3300 for a ring. I'll probably be down again for the whole summer. Just ask her first.

You should have bought the shortblock and gave that to her. Imagine her surprise when you 'pop the question' and proceed to wheel in an engine crate. Oh my! What a surprise!

Seriously, sometimes the toys have to take a back seat to other more important priorites. Tis life...and everything always works out in the long run.

if you were driving an import (say a DSM for example) and that happened, you would be a dumba$$

anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do

There have probably already been two dozen import drivers look at this thread and laugh and call our buddy a d/a. Nobody here cares if they did either.

I lucked out when my motor started to show signs of lossing compresstion we had just gotten the bracket cars motor finished and i used the money excuse to drop it into the street car.

but hunny i know its for the drag car but I'm trying to save money
(We still havent had a real wedding cerimony of honeymoon)

So we havent been bracket racing this year but i dont care.

Good news got in touch with an old bud of mine and im gonna be lookin into a 460!!! I havent made any decisions as of yet, but its a possibility. Its carburated, but who cares!!!Ill have to start from square one with this new motor, and see where it goes from there. The best part is its not gonna cost me a whole lot of money for the 460,he has had it for about a year in his shed. Ill have to see though.
