Talking It just doesn't get any better than this...

Had to make a Wal-Mart run last night, and as I was coming out I saw a couple of young guys I had met in a car show. They have a beautiful 347 stroker with a vortech blower, this thing puts out 500 horses nowadays....
I had convinced these guys of the capability of the 4.6 about 2 months ago when they spied me as an easy kill before they had their monster set-up tuned correctly.
Imagine their surprise when it was neck and neck up to 90mph where we shut it down... (I wonder how bad they'd beat me now with that 347 running right...)

They were showing a couple of LS1 "kids" what a real car looks like...

Anyway, I stopped and talked with them a while and headed to my car to go home when I hear the following: "Nice looking car too bad it's slow..." I turn around and the Mustang guys were pointing to some skinny runt with his buddies in the 2 Camaros...
I was actually going to let it go as I turned around and heard: "I bet you 50 bucks that modular can take both of those lead-sleds." It came from the 347 boys...
I couldn't believe I was thrown in the middle of this. The Camaro kids were ready to get that easy money and didn't even come over to LOOK at my car. They just dared me to follow them to a light as I heard one kid say, "I don't care what he's got, those heads flow like crap..."

I said what the hell as we hit the light at the 3 lane street. I was in the middle between 2 LS!s ready to kill another "feeble" 4.6...

The light was about to go green when the passenger (each LS1 had 2 guys in it) in the left LS1 saw my pillar guages and heard that unmistakable sound.... "Oh s$#t, he's got a blower!" At that instant the light went green and I had a great launch (one of my few). I think the driver of the Camaro on my left was distracted by his passenger's outburst and got off the line late, and when he did hit it, I heard him spin bad...
He was out of it by the end of first...

The guy on my right was right there with me until the middle of second, when I started to walk him, and by the top of third he was just about 2 cars back, and I was still pulling quite well....

I hit the flashers and the game was over. As they caught up the disbelief in their eyes was obvious. I gave them a thumbs up and said: "I think there's a couple guys waiting for some money"
At that point I was homeward bound... It just doesn't get any better than that....

Your right, it doesn't get any better then that!!!
Thats what modding Stangs are about. Its so great to see Blue Oval boyz sticking together, even if you were "thrown" into the race. But you apparently, like most of us would have done, were glad to oblige. Great kills!!!!

The best part about that story is that the 347 guys knew you were good enough to take them. You don't see that very offen. The next time you see those guys, they should buy you a tank of gas or something.

Good kill. Later.

You had to have one big smile on your face, after the passenger said that. Good to see someone putting those "P.O.S." camaro's in their place. ::Wink, Wink:: ;o) Heh, good kills.

Man!

That would have been so cool to be in the car with you!

I love the expression on those LS1 guys when they lose to a "slow a$$ 4.6 GT". LOL

Awesome kill!

Considering he probably paid less with all his Mods than an LS1 I think that's pretty cool. And even if he paid a little more, I'd take his used 98 GT over a new LS1 any day.

Great story Hammer - sounds like a dream come true!

As for HaveUEatenAChevyLately, yes LS1's are fast stock - and even faster modified...but I bet you won't see them on the road for 10+ years like most Mustangs...unless you like your dash rattles, your creaking chassis, and the blue smoke comming out of your tailpipes. :=)
