For starters those 17s are killing you. With those rims the tire you have, has a short side wall. The taller side wall, the better the tire can "WORK". Also suspention, it is a trade off, Hook and Handle don't normally go together. So you have too choose. I often get asked what to do to 'HOOK" I give so pointers and I get negative reply, because the person want's to stay lowered, keep the 20s, do the turns at 90mph. It is a choice, or it takes a few dollars, quite a few.
A 1.5 60ft on Dragg radials is not uncommon. My self, I have been as good as 1.70 on my regular radials (Grand Spirit) What I do is hold 2500-3000rpms, ease out the clutch and don't give any more gas till the car catches up to the rpms then ease on it hard as I can with out breaking loose. It takes practice.
Get a fresh set of tires first, then try a few suspenion parts, struts, springs, skinnys up front, no front sway bar, remove so weight, ect... Keep us updated.
