A Lesson Taught
As I’m traveling through town, some guy in an early 90’s Firebird is darting in an out of traffic and ends up on my bumper. I speed up a little bit (few mph) and get in the next lane over. He pulls up along side of me, looks, laughs and sped off. So I figure he wants to play. Let’s see, he’s probably got maybe a 305 or 350 cid; 200 plus Hp. I guess he figured I had the same, early 90’s heavy convertible; something over 200 hp; not. I probably would not have pursued it, but his cockiness irked me.
I stayed within striking distance and catch him at a red light at the edge of town. I’m one car length behind. When the light turns green, he takes off; a little blue smoke comes out his tail pipes. I followed him, waited for traffic to clear in the adjacent lane and pull along side while in second; slam it into third and bye bye. At this point, I’m several car lengths ahead and I get out of the gas and slow up to see the expression on his face. He’s just staring straight ahead with that stunned look on his face. Stomp! Not much to brag about, but I’m sure he think twice next time before playing around with a stock-looking convertible. ------------------ '93 GT Conv. 13.35 @ 104.8 mph |
