head light problem

i went to turn my head lights on the other night and got nothing not even parking lights. i also lost the radio too. when i got it home i was looking into it and when i turn on the light switch the radio loses power (dumps station presets) and the dome light goes out. then after a short time (seconds) the dome light comes on and the radio does to. if you pull back on the multifunction switch to the flash to pass detent the high beams come on. the turn signals work. i checked all the fuses and they are good. could it be a bad multifunction switch or head light relay (where is that located)? the car is a 1990 5.0 notch back. i tried a new head light switch and that didn't work. also the air bag light flashes 3 times then goes out and flashes 3 times again until the radio and dome light come back on and then the air bag light doesn't come on again. sorry for the long post and any help give is greatly appriciated.

check the alt output.

ok i will try that but what would low alt output have to do with my prob?

my 86 was acting up like that it turn out to be the alt,and battery was drained from no charging,radio cuttin in and out+ heater+ signals and headlights,engine still ran ok,this all acted up in one day.

i checked the alt voltage and it was 14.47 at the batt with the car idleing, i didn't check it and higher rpms but the charging gaugeis always halfway at normal driving rpm's.
