lincoln versailles rear end
A friend of mine wants to put a lincoln versailles rear end in his 66. He has one question though, would he have to shorten the driveshaft? I'm not real familar with this swap so I thought I would post it here.

Thanks Jon,
But does anyone know about the drive shaft? ------------------ 347, 279/284 .493/.510, TFS TW, Stealth, 750, Flowtech hdrs, Dr. Gas X, 2 Chmbr Flowmaster, MSD 6AL-Dist.& SS coil, Art Carr C-4, Currie 9" w/3.55, alum Drv Shft, susp mods, 4 wheel power disc In a 66 coupe |
I installed a 9 inch in my 68 FB. It fit, perfect and the driveshaft wasn't a problem as far as length. On the Lincoln Versailles rear. The difference, besides the disc brakes, is the yoke. The Lin. has a flat round flange and the Mustang has the usual "Y" type yoke. All you have to do is change it to the "Y". Simple enough.
Hard part is getting the flexible brake hoses and the parking brake cable straightened out. |
Unfortunately, the Versailles track is too wide for a 65-66. It will work with a '67 up, however. I know this because...I considered installing one on my '65.
