Post LS1 drove off

I was driving to one of my friends houses today on a two lane road at 35mph when an LS1 WS-6 firebird pulls up behind me, so I drop it into 3rd and put it to the floor. He proceded at his normal 35mph, while I put about 15 car lengths on him. At the next light, he just turned and drove away, I don't know why he didn't try to race me...he could have smoked my a**. If he did try to race, I probably wouldn't have raced because of that reason, but I thought it was funny he didn't try anything...I know I got his attention. Just thought yall might have wanted to hear that story.

Hey, some of us old farts (56) like to race too. Generally, what you're saying about the older set is true though. I rev at someone occasionally in Supra or a Boxter and just get a blank stare in return. Makes me wonder why they drive those cars.

cobrayankee, I think he would have beat me, from what everybody is saying...they run 13s from the factory, right? With my mods, I don't think it would have been close, that is why I want a cam very badly.

I said "Most" LS1 owners. Dont worry I know quite a few "old farts" that will race their Ls1s or new Cobras, Hell the fastest cars in columbia are 5.0 stangs and the owners are in their 30s and up, its funny when they come cruising up with their baby seats in the back seat ... 93svt just ran into someone more "mature" or careful or whatever reason these people wont run, or mabey he was scared becaus his stang sounded mean i dont know...

Thumbs down

If you're cobra's way slower than an LS1 with those mods then you'd better get it checked out! You should be well into the mid to low 13's with those mods so it really should come down to the driver.

BTW not all LS1's run low 13's stock, some are a fair bit slower and some have suspect drivers as well. There's also the odd factory freak that hits 12's with slicks although the fastest "stock" one I've seen was running 13.32 on radials.

red82gt, you really think my car is that fast? It has never been to the track, so I wouldn't know, but it seems to be slow in the middle of the powerband, but screams above about 3800rpm. It also backfires if I rev it while it is kind of cold. I have no idea how fast it is.
