LS1 Vs. 4.6 GT
Way home last night a 96 GT pulls up beside me reving his motor. We exchanged greeting and nice cars, etc...We ended up going from a roll on a deserted 3 lane road at about 20 to 80 on the first run. I pulled him real good.
We then got a light and He said he just had a off road h-pipe and flows, K&N. I asked if he had gears, and he stated no and asked me what gears i had which i replied Auto, 2.73s....he was like wow...ha ha. He stated he wanted a different motor of something b/c his car was slow. I told him, you can make it quick. I told him i havea 5.0 at home and i love the way they sound. Light changed and we ran i pulled him about 3 cars to 60 were i let off. Next light we talked for a bit and before the light changed he said we'll see ya later after you smoke me...and he laughed. Light changed and the same results to 60 were i let off. Last run he kicked it about 2 cars behind me and i waited til he was next to me to hit it. He pulled ahead about 1.5 cars then the LS1 reeled him in real quick. I pulled past him about 70 pretty good and let off when i had a couple cars on him. We ended up pulling over and talking. i told him he needs to come to the track with me Friday since he has never been. He stated he just moved here and didn't really know anyone. Real nice guy...i gave him my number and told him to call me and go to the track with me friday. he said he would so hopefully i have convinced someone to go to the track! Anyways...thought i would share. |
Good kill. I'm sure you know that it shouldn't have been close. The 96-98 GTs are real dogs, unless they've been blown or had the heads upgraded to 99 or later. It's always nice to run across someone who's cool regardless of winning or losing.

Yeah right EZRIDN, didn't we just establish that the LS1's can't hang with the 4.6's??
Oh, nevermind, we established the exact opposite... :D Good kill |
No way could a LS1 beat a 4.6 they were rated at like 225hp
Nice kill and what a way to help a fellow enthusiest. |

I still like those years though. I like the body style and the 17" rims. Stoplightwarrior....LOL. Like i said...Hopefully the guy will meet me at the track so i can introduce him to it so that he will not run on the street. Real cool guy. I had a great time. |
Hey props to being nice to the guy :) More people need to be friendly nowadays espically us Mustang lovers :)

Im glad to see comraderie (sp?) between ford and chevy people. I think it is a bunch of useless BS to be one brand loyal. EZRIDN you obviusly are not one brand loyal and you seem like a really cool guy. I go to ls1.com every now and then just for thier off topic forum and many times have gotten flamed by punks who dont believe that owners of other cars should be there. Many people there are seem to be elitist pricks hehe. Well i will get off my soapbox now ;)

Im with you guys on the "no loyalty" issue. If somebody was to give me a 67 RS/SS Camaro, or a 68-73 Nova, Chevelle, etc, Then I'd take it.
Likewise with a 67-68 Fastback Mustang. I never got why people have the beef either. I've seen plenty of 70 Nova's stomp Mustangs, and my buddy Joe raced an LS1 at the track last weekend in his Vortech blown 89 LX and beat the **** out of him. Good cars are good cars. I even think imports are alright AS LONG as there is no 2ft. tall aluminum spoiler, clear tailights, huge gfx, and a bunch of stickers. A twin turbo 93 RX-7 will haul ***, bar none. I've rode in one and i about **** LOL. Anyways, enough of me. |
Yes i agree there are certanin imports that cool in my book that i have mentioned before. Skylines, Supras, TT RX7's, TT 300ZX's, and silvias/240SX's are sweet. All of these cars are either RWD or AWD too, none of the FWD crap for me ;)
