Default LS1 vs 87GT

Plain and simple the LS1 has more power. Likely unit has a 13 sec stang, which given the right chances can beat LS1's. Thing is on the street, especially from a roll a lot can happen. IE the driver doesnt downshift like he should etc.

Lets set it up.

Stock LS1 vs the exhaust 87GT.

I want this over with. Lets get the racing going.

Hook it up, we'll see what happens. To address a different post, I have no idea what has been done to the internals on the 87GT. I got it with 113k on the clock a couple years ago. I've never even had the upper intake off. It could be a ported/polished stock upper, with GT40 heads and 1.7's for all I know. I've just never even taken the time to look. I do know it had the stock headers on it, and most people will upgrade those before just about anything else (not that it's required).

I should really look at it for real. I had the headers off and I was going to swap some aftermarket pieces on, but I had fitment trouble big time. I didn't notice the ports being large or anything.

I think you need more than a ported intake, and gt-40 heads to really pull an ls1, sorry, im no kissing any ls1 ***, just look at my avatar ,

but i seen my friends stage 3 poted trick flow headed stang have a, light mods ls1 hang with him from 80-120 mph, at his door, he then backed of and gave the formula the win because of some noises in his rear end that turned out to be a bad spring, but that same ls1 had cuttouts, gutted cats, lid, no motor work, and it traps 109 with stock gears, my buddies stang traps 112-114, but he has a forged 347.

So what im saying is i dont believe the stock e7 head will allow enough rpm for the motor to pull through 80-100 that quick, if ported aluminum heads are only flowing 60 cfm more than a 'stock' ls1 head, the airflow is there stock, with the 5.0 the bodystlye is there, but 225 hp isnt enough, but my take on it is, 5.0's respond to mods so well, thats why i love them.

just like mustangs they have some that come frome the factory kickin *** and some suckin *** I dont care if unit can take the ls1s or not its seems like he loves his rides and he loves racing thats enough for me. and if he cant beat them hes still out there givin them hell and not backing down from a fight.... its just like the honda guys they have less from the start as we do to the camaros but after well all start modding our cars then we grow respect and love of are rides how many camaro(ex the hardcore) can say that alot of gm guys jump over to the mustang knowing that they less power can anyone tell me why......

Good call, Sky

As I've stated on this board several times, at my local track, I've seen mid-low 14 second LS1s and a few high 12's with very little mods. It should be a very interesting race.

Let's get this show on the road!

Where are these slug LS-1's? They may suck off the line, but I've not seen any at 90 mph.
