LS1 went down!
OK, it wasn't me in my car. It was Hammer. He didn't post this race, so I thought I would (Hope you don't mind budy ).
Hammer and I detailed our cars on Sunday afternoon, and boy was it awesome out! Clear skies warm weather (I have the sun burn to prove it). After we were done we went for a cruise in his car (Mines fun, but just does seem to be able to keep up ). Not long after we rolled out on the street and very loud LS1 Camaro seemed to notice a very shiny Chrome Yellow Mustang. I'm sure this guy figured that he'd "hand the 96-98 4.6L GT his a**", but he'd be in for a surprise . We played a bit and the LS1 just didn't have the power to keep up. We then got on to a street with less traffic and then things got opened up! we went FROM A ROLL, Hammer 1, LS1 0. Back and forth, back and forth. Every time Hammer pulled on the guy. I have to admit it was close until Yellowjacket hit 3500-4000 RPM and the boost kicked in and we passed the guy. To top it all off there was Hammer, Me, and my wife ALL in the car for that little bit of weight disadvantage. The guy in the LS1 said that he had 4.10's. He obviously had exhaust, and who knows what else. |

great kill,
even with all of you guys in the car you still beat the LS1. that probably ruined his nice day for cruising. |

Man that is sweet. I'm wondering: can you hear Hammer's blower a mile off, or is it one of the quiet designed ones? In other words, did this LS1 guy know Hammer was not NA?
Great kill!

But from the front you can hear the blower. Now if you are in your car with a loud stereo on or you have loud exhaust you may not hear it. Of course the little chrome "supercharged" emblems under the GT emblem might be a give away for some one checking out the car. |

Sweet kill. That is fun to run someone and ya'll just keep doing it over and over. I love the body style of the '98 Gt's. I was SO close to buying one.

It was pretty cool...
I guarantee he thought he was going to waste another "slow" 96-98 until we got on that side street. He turned onto the side-street first and started to get himself setup for a nice rolling start. (Those LS1 guys HATE launching from a stop...) I decided to beat him at his own game: We downshifted as we pulled onto the side street and I nailed it behind him and got in the lane next to him to pass. He nailed it when he saw me coming up on him but he had no chance, and I'm sure he heard the blower when we blew past him. I think he was freaking out a bit as he stayed back there for a while... just trailing us.... He nailed it again to try to get the edge in acceleration while he was behind me. I nailed it when he was about 3 cars behind me (in the next lane).... He didn't even make it to my rear bumper... By 4000 rpm we were starting to pull again... This happened a few times... I guess he just couldn't accept the fact that he was getting spanked by a 98GT.... We came to the next light and the LS1 dude didn't have much to say other than "nice ride" and a thumbs up... He definately had exhaust, 4:10s, probably all the other LS1 stuff (Still don't get what a "lid" is...) Gotta give him credit... it ran well at speed. (Modded LS1s just PULL at highway speeds) He just messed with the wrong Mustang... MUHAHAHAHA!!!

Hehehe, sweeeeeett.
My favorite kill post from Hammer's races was the one with the LS1 kids in the next lane ready to run from the light. When you revved your engine and just before the light went green the kid says Oh ****! He's got a blower! HAHAHAH |

Sweet kill Hammer. You ever run at the track or have any track times?
I've seen some pretty impressive 96-98 GT's with blowers, and some that weren't very impressive (one ran 13.6's with a blower and slicks ) |

HP is 383 and torque is just above 380 (both at the wheels from a dyno)
The only track time I have was in the 1/8 mile. This was the first time I've had it to the track since the blower has been working correctly, and I've found that the increase in power has made it VERY hard to launch on street tiresat the track. In fact, I had NO traction at all in first and second coming off of the lights... I had to "run down" a stock vette when I finally found some traction in 3rd... Due to the stock control arms, and stock sized Nittos, the best 60 ft I've been able to get out of her is a 2.17, which sucks... Trap speeds are better as it converts to about 113-114 mph in the 1/4. With traction problems mentioned above, the ET converted to 12.8 sec passes. With some new control arms and wider meats in the back we should see some 1.8 60 foots and some 12.2 passes. The horsepower is there, we're working on getting it to the ground in first and second gear...

Gotta love it when those LS1's never see it comming. I imagine the look you got is even worse then the look I get when I pass them in my bone stock looking LX coupe.
