Default LT1 Camaro starts it, I finish it, then he pulls the ricer flyby

Normally, I don't street race-however, I could not keep ignoring the kid in the LT1.

I was merely driving to Wal-Mart to pick up some diapers (no kidding!), when a blue Camaro crept up behind me. He had a primed black snorckel hood (looked stupid), tall wing on back, but a nasty sounding exhaust.

Traffic was a bit heavy as he jockeyed for position next to me. He passed a few cars to get on my side as we hit a light or two only lining up once (in the middle of town). He goosed the start, but I didn't want to risk the ticket (cop shop was 4 blocks away) and I honestly wasn't interested. We continued driving through town, out towards wallyworld. He was shooting revs at me the whole time, goosing the throttle, then slowing to get next to me. I really didn't want to play, just get the diapers and go home.

Then, it happened. He threw a rev at the next light, I turned and looked as he mouthed the word.... "chickensh!t".

Oh, it's on. I scooted the seat up, grabbed the shifter and threw a big rev at him. The light hit green, I worked the clutch and got a great jump, powershifted to second with a "bark" of the tires. Looked in the rearview, had a full view of both headlights.

At this point I thought he would catch me, after all the LT1 is unbeatable. But I just kept pulling through 2nd gear on him. Hit third, again with a powershift, and shut it down to take my left turn to wallyworld. He stays in it and does the flyby for his losing effort.

I'm still in shock my lightly modded GT was able to decidedly handle this good sounding Camaro. Maybe if there were more road-who knows. Score one for the Blue Oval, chickensh!t.

My current mods are GT40 intake, 73mm MAF, 65mm T/B and spacer, 24# inj, E303 cam, 255lph fuel pump, shortie headers, H-pipe, Dynomax cat-back exhaust, K&N, pullies, and a few appearance items, that's it. I had a set of 3.73 gears, but didn't install them because I drive 90 miles/day to work.

Planning on heads, rockers, 3.55 gears, and a stroked 331 in the near future. Never dynoe'd or run at the track because of the mileage (145,000).

HAHA ricer fly-by! it's like they lose, but they pass you, so they think they win. it's more like loser fly-by. although i am surprised you won without cylinder heads, maybe he's not a good driver?

Nice kill. However if the race went into third and fourth odds are the results would have changed. You really need to add atleast gears to make it a sure win in all the gears, cylinder heads will guarnatee victory against alot of modded LT1's.

Most LT-1's are only low 14 or high 13 second cars.

They're pretty easy to kill
