LX 5.0 goes down, followed by Accord? hehe

Well, on my way back home from Duluth I ran across a Fox LX. First glance told me it was a 4banger, couldn't make out dual tips, it was late night. I'm travelling down 35-S going about 75, a couple over the limit and I notice the LX begins pacing me. He's in my blind spot, but I can see his headlights. He has to get into the left lane behind me for upcoming slow movers. Not wanting to chance them for cops I slow down to the legal posting of 70.

Then as I pass I notice the LX is trying a ricer flyby??!! http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...gboard/mad.gif Damn, he's already coming up fast, I'm a little too fast for 2nd I'd only be in it for about 5mph and I'm in 4th (thought it could be a 5.0 and he might try something so no 5th), I drop it to 3rd and hammer it.

Momentum takes him about a car length ahead of me, but by the top end of third I'm pulling ahead, I slam 4th and it's over. I slow down and he goes past merges infront of me to get around a guy in the right lane coming up, I gave him space. I was content in my obvious victory, but to my suprise the LX hadn't had enough, he tromps it down again and he's off. We were back to 75ish when he pulled that on me, already with a 4 car lead. No way! Pull that ricer **** on me! I give the GT a full wide open blast, if this clown wants to see the difference for sure then fine with me! As I slam into 4th I'm gaining like mad again, I fly by him and put on a few lengths to let him know he's not even close. I was really moving. I know the road no ramps, clear and straight and wide, by the time I was shutting down lengths were piled up a little and the tach said 5800rpm, in 4th. With 2.73's. My tach reads high by a few hundo I'm sure but I was hauling the mail quicker than the USPS for sure. **** ... -15* is good for something.

Tonight I was rolling down to Burnsville when I run into a <insert laugh here> Accord that wanted a piece. I didn't know if he was modded or what, but when traffic cleared he moved right up to the stang and looked over. Hat on backwards, I looked over and laughed. He jumped forward, I dropped it down to 2nd@55, powershifted into 3rd about 75ish and the rear end kicked out http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/redface.gif (crazy **** ) never had that happen before must've been shitty road or something. Figured Accord boy wouldn't want to take a chance after that. I slowed back down, but nope, he wanted some still. Okay... Suit yourself http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...d/rolleyes.gif. Traffic was clear for a ways, he jumped, I hammered it in 2nd walked him easy, hit 3rd and began piling car lengths up to about maybe 90. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...ard/tongue.gif He caught back up when I slowed back to the limit (55) and I gave him a wave, he waved back, exited off. Accord something or other, it didn't even have the plates yet. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

All in all, I can't say enough about how good this D&D performance "z" spec T-5 shifts. Gives me a lot of confidence to really bang some gears.

Nice races. I had my first race in a long time tonight. It was setup though.

Don't know how some stupid accord thought he had the right to waste your gas... idiot.

Whats done to your car anyways unit?

Same ol same ol Sky... I certainly wouldn't want to run you! hehe.

1987 GT Hatch, every delete option except A/C (I'd like to beat the person who ordered it). Cold air, flex fan, BBK hi flow H with cats, dynomax 2.5" catback, T-5z, 5lug conversion, 99GT wheels/tires, 3G alternator. As far as performance goes, pretty much stock. It seems to run damn good though. I'd do more to it, but I'm not sure on keeping it much longer.

Unit 5302 02-22-2001 02:34 AM

I take that back, I would want to run you if I were out there Sky... gotta get beat to deflate your head every once and a while. Last time I got beat was Aug last year with 3 passengers against a '96 Vette. He beat me pretty decent, I was running hot, but a loss is a loss, my only loss actually. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

302 LX Eric 02-22-2001 10:12 AM

Unit, what does she run in the 1320?

And what is this crap about "...but I'm not sure on keeping it much longer?" The only way this would be permitted is if you plan on replacing her with another Stang. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

Take care, E

I have no idea. Nearest good track is about 3hrs from here.

Probably real low 14's, maybe a super high 13? It's pretty stock. Everybody likes to think they're John Force and can run like a 13.80 with a stock GT, but none of us can. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

Well, so I guess it can run 13.80's then hehe, cause that's how good of a driver I am. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif Maybe I should be getting the G-tech just for an idea.

The plan on the Stang is bye-bye. I'm thinking about an SN95 with a Kenne Bell truthfully, but also on the list is a newer Cougar and a '69 stang for the 427. Who knows right now?

unit being a speed density car, it probaly would click off a 13.8-9, just gotta hook and drive like crazy.

I'm pretty sure I drive it like crazy, but it's still running 10* initial on 87 pump gas. Stock 2.73's with 144k miles.

Bone stock I'd expect it to run 14.4ish with decent driving, maybe the cold air, good driving, better tires, the cold air and exhaust help it out, but I've got a lot of miles on the clock too.

Bottom line is, I don't really know for sure what it runs and I don't want to start thinking I can start hunting cars like Sky's http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

lol, yea me either, but i have 171k miles on the clock, stock, and in the 13's without front sway though.
