My '03 Cobra races for this week
I went to the Hot Rod Nationals down in Springfield, MO this weekend with my brand spanking new Sonic Blue 03 Cobra. The show was at the fairgrounds during the day, and on Glenstone St. at night. I ran with quite a few cars on the street, here are the details:
1. First race was with a HEAVILY modified gold 98 GT with slicks. I couldn't believe the sound of this car, and that the guy was looking out his window and smirking at my 03 before we ran. Both punched from a 15 mph roll. His car ROARS - sounded like knockouts, the Cobra goes sskrreee!! Got a half a car on him in first, had to shut it down cause of an Eclipse in front of me. Almost hit the rev limiter, the 03 pulled very hard all the way up. 2. Z-28 with exhaust, other mods possible. He surprised me at a stoplight. I let the clutch out and mashed it. Caught up to him, and shifted into second, but I think he killed it by then. Oh well, stay awake at the light, Steve. 3. Red Honda Civic with the usual mods - a farter, spoiler, and rattling trunk from the stereo system. Your typical Springfield riceboys as well, yelling sh*t out the window and ragging on Mustangs. I had this happen more than once this weekend, but this time I couldn't resist. We were revving at a light on a long stretch of unpatrolled outer highway. Waiting for the light........ GREEN! I launched HARD, best one yet for me in the Cobra. The Civic was WOT, but the farting noise disappeared so quickly I thought he killed it. Saw him waaaay back up towards the end of first, didn't care. Shifted hard into second, mashed it. Ran all the way through second and slammed it into third. WOT still. Ran third for a short period of time and let off. About 10-15 seconds later I received the ricer flyby with middle finger extended. That middle finger was five times better that a thumbs up ever could have been.

Steve - you've got to get that beast to the track. We need ET's and MPH's!

I should run to the dyno today while I'm off. At svtperformance.com there are guys running well above 400 hp/tq with these cars already. According to them, bolt-ons = big gains.

I would recommend Dynomax Ultraflow Stainless for your mufflers. They are straight throughs that flow about 1,000 cfm. Would really help if you're going with an o/r x. They sound cool too.
