MY FIRST KILL! 509 68' Camaro
Ahhh, life is good. F-I-N-A-L-L-Y got my car to the track, spent several runs getting used to the car and just playing. Anyway, my best friend went down in his 68 Camaro with his Big Block 509, tubbed rear, etc.
Anyway, his days of talkin smack are officially over thanks to the good ole' blue oval. We pull into the water box, with motors screaming the slicks finally begin to billow large amounts of smoke from the fenders. Good enough. We both rev the motor to clean out the excess fuel getting ready for a "balls-to-the-walls" run no doubt. We stage. I think to myself with a subtle grin "Alright, time to launch this S.O.B." 1st yellow, 2nd yellow, 3rd yel... BLAM tranny brake is released with the gas pedal to the floor. BOOM front tires lift from the ground, then gently settling back to the track. 60 ft, got a fender. 1/8th still pulling, approaching the 1/4 "bye bye buddy, guess who has the bragging rights!" Camaro E.T. 10.42 @ 127 Mustang E.T. 9.98 @ 135 ALL MOTOR BABY! My converter is way off and will need adjusting to maximize full potential. That and the 30+ headwind didn't help any. Who cares, I am in the 9's now! I will keep you all posted as this thing progresses. ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas. Congratulations, Kevin!!!
That is awesome! You are definately screaming with that bad a$$ machine of yours. And, what's even cooler is that you can say: "ALL THROTTLE, NO BOTTLE!!!" Again, congrats. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif E ------------------ 1991 5.0 LX Coupe - 38,000 miles 13.17 @ 106.14 mph w/ 2.138 60' |

Daaaaaaaammmn! I noticed your sig mentions the ol' blue bottle. How big of a shot are you planning on running, and what ET would you expect?
|
Man guys, it's a BIG rush. Hard to explain but it's fun.
I still need to mount my vacuum pump which will give me another 40hp. It was dynoed with the pump but I need to make a bracket so it will work on my heads. I really should run 9.20 to 9.30's with the car with the amount of power it's putting out, just have to sort through the bugs. I am happy no less, I need to get used to what I have before I go adding more. You know, at least 1 more weekend. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas. Kevin, great kill! Who built your motor?
|
Wow that is fast. Did u build that just for fun or one of the NMRA or FFW classes? Well anyway awesome times.
|
As far as nitrous, I'm not in a big hurry for that. The max I would ever run would be 250. I am going to try and get this as fast as I can on the throttle alone. I figure 9.20 - 9.30 range. Then, who knows with a 250 shot, probably low 8's.However, I would not feel comfortable in my car going that fast on a 10.5 tire. Not to safe.
Its funny running that fast, people come over looking for a blower or nitrous and there isn't any. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif Bennett Racing put the motor together. They really know their stuff. As far as where I plan to run, the only class I could run in at Fun Ford would be Pro 5.0 and there is no way in hell I could compete with those guys. The motor is there but the chassis isn't. I will probably bracket race it and run some true 10.5 heads up races. I love heads up racing. ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide. E.T. 9.98 @ 135 My Car |

uh....the....huh....fuh...i....oh...crap....(DROOL !) I want to see this thing one day, i knew it would be one serious piece of work, but Low 9's looking for 8's!!?? That is great Kevin! One question, is it streetable in the least? You could have some fun at a cruise night with this toy! Light Em Up!!! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

Yes, it's very streetable. All of the lights and blinkers work and it's comfy too. I still have the complete interior in it, insulation, sound deadening, seats, back seat, etc.
It doesn't get very good gas mileage though http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide. E.T. 9.98 @ 135 My Car |
Congrats Kevin on the great times and a$$ whoopin' to the Camaro. I'd expect about 4 MPG on $5/gal. race gas, right? Hee,hee.
