How fast in an R6?

I have not had, or been into bikes for almost 10 years, so I don't know which ones are the fast ones anymore.
I was on the freeway and had an R6 pace me. So I slipped it into the meat of 3rd, and goosed it. He dropped his gears and let me take the jump. (how considerate ) I stomped it through 3rd, shifted into 4th with him hanging at my back bumper. I wound 4th to 6 grand and let off. He never gained any ground.
He wanted to go again, so we dropped down the gears, and this time he kept trying to take the jump. Well, he got the jump on me and I chased. The roles were reversed this time. I hung in the lane next to him at his back tire and never gained any ground.

This 600 was pretty freakin' quick. I have run CBR600's (F2's, F3's, F4's), Katana's, and FZR600's, and have always had good luck. It was stock right down to the pipe too.
