Angry My second loss!!!

This is getting rediculous. Yesterday, I was just going out to cash some checks, not looking for any street races, when I find myself alongside a SL500 looking mercedes at a stoplight. My friend has a SL500, and they feel pretty fast, so I didnt want to try him. I didnt look over at him, or rev, and neither did he. When the light changed, he waited for me to make the move, but I wasnt, so he quickly jumped past me and glanced back. So, I floored it and so did he, and he steadily pulled further and further away to about 95. At the next light, we exchanged waves, and I notice the "V12" badge on his fender. So, I dont feel too bad, but my car is quickly losing some of its appeal. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but today when I was next to a riced out Si, I didnt even have the balls to make a move. No more races til mods. Later.

Don't get upset, we all have our bad times. I kept looking down on my car ever since a night at the track until I got a little confidence booster just last night. I wasted a cocky little kid with his integra. That made me feel much better. Don't give up you'll win some more.

What's wrong is we're giving these yuppies a 1/2 sec. head start. From now on, when I see a fast car along side, I'm giving one and only one rev at the light. When the light turns green, I'm leaving just like I would at the track. If i appear as the aggressive prick that I may in fact be, then so be it. I, for one, am tired of giving someone else the jump. I also am tired of going from a 20 mph roll. Now, I'm giving one rev at the light. With acknowledegement or not, I'm going on green. **** other peoples sensibilities.

Something is messed up here. I have driven a 600SL, and I know that it is the only model with the V12 badge. The 500 SL is a V8.

500SL 5.0 V8 330 HP
600SL 6.0 V12 389 HP

They are very heavy around 4000 lbs.

smithbling is of course is correct.
500SL = V-8
600SL = V-12

It may not seem to matter but what did the badge look like if it was a red badge that was like a sticker then it was somthing else.

Thumbs up

At least you're honorable enough to post your losses as well as your wins, StoplightWarrior. We all must lose sometime or another. The question is, what do we do about it???

Talking

Win some, lose some.
I about got "suckered" by a 300 TT Z the other day. I pulled up next to him at a light. He didnt even look over or rev or anything. So I figured he didn't want to go. But, I hung it out in 1st up to about 3000 when heard him get on it. I probably would have lost if I had shifted into second. I ran it up to 7000rpm and shifted. We ran to about 65ish (in a 35) and he lost.

I agree with Rev. If it looks fast, dont take any chances. Go fast from the line, you can always slow down

Next time you come up upon a Mercedes 500SL or S get them off of the line. The AMG CLK55's are perfect sleepers. 0-60 in less than 5 secs. Watch out for then The V-12's are the fastest on the roll (40-120's).

don't even sweat it stop light warrior. shoot i've lost so many races i lost count. but my guaranteed confidence boost was beating the rice. allways gives me a i put heads and intake on my car last weekend, and i beat a Ls1 ss, and a 99 cobra tonight so im feeling good right now. no matter how fast you are there is allways some one faster just keep saving the pennys for more mods
rev you are definately right about punching it first
ty 97 cobra, those tt z's got me a few months ago, same way.i didn't have the hp then to hang. so i chalked it up as another loss. im looking for him know!!!
