4.30's are in and my wife needs a neck brace!!!
Anybody with a Cobra needs to get some 4.30's, pronto!!! These really and I mean really woke the car up. I can't beleive how much harder it pulls in every gear now, even in 5th. Hell, 5th gear pulls like 3rd used to.
It's been raining all day around here in Northern VA and I haven't been nailing it on the lower gears, so once I got going from a stoplight about 50+ MPH, I stomped on 4th and the whole car went sideways, LOL . Let me say that again, 4th gear, not 1st gear. With the stock gears, it would not do that on wet roads. Yesterday, when it was dry, I took my wife for a test drive and did a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear pull. Her neck was snapping back over the headrest and she slapped me in the head by the middle of 3rd gear! I think it could still use somemore gear. Eventually, I am going with 4.56's!!! Cobra + Gears =
Did that 13.42 come before or after the gears? |

The 13.42 came before the gears at the Modular Shootout. With a sub 2.0 60ft. and the 4.30's I hope to dip into the 12.9's. But, I am still learning how to launch with the drag radials. I could have been really close to the 12's with the stock gears if I had a better launch.

Those are some nice times and mph for stock gears and light modifications. 12.9X isn't impossible by any means. .1 - .2 on the launch and a few more down the track with the 4.30s.
If you think launching the stock gears is tricky, the 4.30s will deffently take some practice. |

Go out there and humble some LS-1's. I'm sick of them talking $h*t about Cobras!

Ain't they cool? I also got 4:30's in my ride. Although you won't really notice a differnce with 4:56's, I think it might even be more beneficial to go with 4:88's or something and get a 6 speed.
Do you like how it actually accelerates in 5th gear now? And the fact it's pretty darn sweet to compression break through town. It's always fun to chirp the rear meats when downshifting in town. Wait 'til loose traction on dry ground. That's also kinda fun. ------------------ 1996 Laser Red Cobra. 12.64@108.1 mph; 1.92 60 ft. I keep racin' it, and it keeps getting faster!(It's still a heavy beast) |
